:( seems like the god 'ole trusty rockford is starting to age.

when i turn my stereo upto warp factor 9 1(yes, just 1) of my subs is knocking. to be fair this sub is probably nearly 2 years old and has had a certain amount of abuse(when my bloody brother is in the car), and also been under powered slightly for the duration of its visit. the other one is fine but to be fair it is only about 9 months old or so.

what i'm basically asking is can anyone out recommend a dual 4ohm(so running 2ohm when used) 300W rms, preferably in a 10" as i already have a 10" box

Don't think you can go wrong with jl audio. What about a diamond audio M3. You can get these in dual 4 ohms.

You could always join www.talkaudio.co.uk and ask them. These people know their stuff when it comes to car audio.

Seriously though, take a good look on talkaudio. Lots of people who really know their stuff. My current setup is following recommendations, and I love it.

BTW, are you more after SPL or SQ? What type of music do you listen to...

If you want to get really technical, the box you have probably wouldn't be best suited for any sub - they all have their characteristics.

Is the box you have a "generic" one or was it specifically designed for your RF?

its a generic twin 10 box. with the subs i'm really after spl and sq, or is that asking too much???

i want a heavy punch and a fairly deep grumble.

i like the look of the JL's because my friend had a pair and they performed great and they also perfectly fit my requirements, size, power and price.

my RF's performe quite well but where they are only svc my amp is only producing 400W @2ohm so i want to get it down to 1ohm cos the sub can then power 600W.

and music wise i listen to most different stuff but when i really like my bass is hip-hop and rap, especially Dre
