Boot Trim removal

Featured Replies

hi guys,

has anybody removed the boot trim before?

I removed the screws in the handles and also the 2 in the triangle holder, but nothing seems to come off.

must i push or pull any of the part off?

i wish to put some soundproofing material inside.

thanks!:)

You have to give it a fair yank, as there are loads of metal clips that hold it on also. Pull away from the top part (The part nearest where the warning traingle) first, then pull away from there, and you need to pull out and away where the grab handles are. It will take come effort, but it will come off.

Hope this helps.

As SJFISHER67 said, if you have removed all the screws then you just have to pull very hard on the trim.......use the handles to get a good grip or get a long flat bladed screw driver and just put it in between the trim and bodywork to pop off some of the trim clips....

I've done this job and agree - the clips are very stiff. They should be greased before refitting the trim - fixings on VAG vehicles always end up rusty so without grease, the next time you want to go in there the trim will break.

Oil the pivot for the boot latch release lever - mine was seized, which was why I had cause to go in there.

thanks guys for your help,

boy, the clips are really stiff ! even putting them back is a chore...

managed to remove the trim, greased the lever and stuck some sound proofing in

then realised my boot spoiler had come off on one side....crummy!
