Another Favorit driver says hello

Featured Replies

Hi folks, just signed up to see what the site's like. I'm a long-term Skoda driver - on the 2nd Favorit after 4 Estelles. Yup, that's right, I like cheap and cheerful motoring. Guy in the tyre place laughed the other week when I asked about high performance treads for a Favorit but as I said to him, I'd rather drive the nuts off a little car than have an upmarket model and almost never see more than half its output in use (and watch its value drop like a stone etc. etc.).

I do all my own servicing (except bodywork but luckily I've not needed any of that in several years) so I've a few useful mechanical tips if anybody's stuck. Here's one to be going on with: Favorit front shocks are the same as Felicia, despite the different order codes from most makers. This makes it easier to find decent performance ones. I've got Monroe SensaTrac on mine - money well spent.

Hey, I wish this forum had existed 15 years ago when I was trying to get into modifying Estelles! My only reliable source of information was a guy called 'Smithy' at a motor factor's just outside Ilford, and when I say 'reliable' I don't include anything connected with finding him on a day-to-day basis. Lack of info was as much a factor as lack of money in restricting my efforts. God bless the internet!

Welcome to Briskoda.

I'm fairly new to the Skoda world myself having owned mine since Septempber but I have found this site to be very helpful.

I'm in the process of looking at a Favourit/Felicia as a second car if we require one in the near future just as a run around.

Davy

Welcome :)
