Fabia 1.4 16v Elegance Impressions And A Question

Featured Replies

Happy new year to you all,

I bought Fabia Elegance in June 2007 and so far it has 4500 Km.

I have only added a Skoda compatible alarm system which was installed by the Skoda authorised dealer I bought it.

The car is very good in driving and very confortable at long distance trips. The motor power is very good for the weight of the vehicle. Maybe a shorter ratio gearbox would be preffered if only driving in town. The assembly quality is also very good.

The only thing I am worried about is some "low sound knots" from the dashboard above the glovebox when driving on not qood quality roads. I visited SKODA Service and they told me that the car "sounds" absolutely normal.

I am wondering if you can help me locating the dashboard screws for trying tight them.

By the way, at the demostration car I drove before ordering mine, which was Fabia Sport version 1.4 16V, I could hear almost the same knocks from the same direction of the dashboard.

Has anyone of you noticed some of sounds from the dashboard, driving on poor quality roads?

Thanking you in advance for your suggestions and happy motoring.

Hi there Costas

I bought a new Fabia3 1.4tdi 80 in June.

Compared to my previous old car, I really noticed quite a bit of creaking and rattling from the new Fabia dashboard, especially - as you say - from the glovebox side. I went crazy trying to find the source, emptying everything out of the glovebox many times and driving over various bumpy and uneven roads with my passenger listening out for the noise.

That was a few months ago and everything seems to have settled down now, I hardly hear any noise from the dash at all.

Or maybe I've just turned the radio up louder to compensate! :D

Happy driving!
