Battery light staying on

Featured Replies

I had my altenator replaced earlier this week but I noticed today that when I start the car the battery light stays on for about 30 seconds then goes out.

Is it anything to worry about? I would take it back to the dealer but it's Friday evening and they won't be open again till Monday.

If the light goes out does that mean the altenator is then working ok? Just hope it will keep enough juice in the battery for the weekend at least!

more info needed.... what are the revs? the definitive check is to put a multimeter across the battery and monitor the voltage as you start the car, and wait for the light to go out. if it gets up to 13.7-14.5 volts then it's probably ok.

Thats on startup revs. Light goes out as soon as I drive off or actually before this evening I think.

What about the voltage at the battery?

Don't have a multimeter but the problem appears to have stopped for now but I will monitor the situation. Thanks for your help.
