I need some 6x9's...

Featured Replies

For SWMBO's micra.

I haven't bought 6x9's since 2001 so I no longer know which are good ones.

The last set I had were vibe's, with a really big magnet. And as a proof of their greatness, they have just travelled into their 4th car (SWMBO said she didn't want them in the micra because their blue and the car is green).

So - do I go for Vibe again?? Are they still making good 6x9's or is someone making superior ones?? Budget is irrelevant really, but don't start saying get components because she said [nagging] you're not cutting holes in the doorcards. Their bad enough as it is. Just cut the shelf at the back.[/nagging].

There are no good 6x9s.

Nobody needs 6*9's...

I agree, but SWMBO is insisting.

upgrade the front speakers, job done :)

get some neons, some massive subs, and a "bass the final frontier" sunstrip for her :)

you can get some OK 6*9, but i wouldn't bother myself.

I hid some components in a car so such that i didn't need to cut anything, but even upgrading normal speakers would work.

I really think all 6x9 do these days is attract people to your car to nick stuff.

How about fitting comps into the cards then getting the cards trimmed with suitable audio neutral cloth.

Got a pic of the cards in question?

I am not to sure what speakers you can fit in the front of a micra but try and fit better fronts with some sound deadening and if you have to fit 6x9's, try infinity reference 6x9's.If you havent already fitting a better headunit with a built in crossover so you can remove the lower frquencies to the fronts <100 hz.

I have some 6x9's going cheap! Also have an amp for em too if you're interested?!

Not sure i want them in my car as im happy enough with good front speakers and a sub and we're movig soon so i need to get rid of some cr*p!

They're mutant ones (quite cheap but can really pump the sound out with the amp) 300watts and the amp is a BOSS 2x 200watts.

6x9's are just wrong from every angle you look at them.

They dont project sound properly so are not suited to the rear for a start

You would be better off getting some components for the rear shelf and angling the tweeters forward.

I have just said all of the above, when i have 6x9's in my car :thumbdwn: But i only have them because i had to fill 6x9 shaped holes in my parcel shelf left by the previous owner :(

Even though i am aware that 6x9 s are not from a purist point of view great... however if you run them off a seperatley powered amplifier as i did once they do actually produce some half decent sound (bloody loud too)with a clearer signal :)

runs and hides befoe getting shot ;)

I agree... although not the best form of getting your music out of your stereo when hooked up to an amp like i had they didn't half shake the back window! lol

The only thing that puts me off is cutting holes in the parcel shelf :thumbdwn:

They work ok for what they are, I just think replacing the standard speakers even if just with quality 2 ways and adding some dynamat etc would probably do a lot more than 6x9's.

That plus you don't have the look , steal my stereo advert on the rear shelf either.

When i fitted them to my old car to fill the wholes i used to have to cusions on the parcel shelf covering them up!!! hehe

She's happy now.

Picked up some bright pink Fli ones from the local performance place.

I take it she is more pleased they are pink lol

Yes, it's the fact they are pink more than anything else.

She wants the matching pink sub for her birthday now.

Oh dear...

Whatever makes 'em happy though, eh! ;)
