Right, I'm going to try it

Featured Replies

I have a nice setup sat in my garage - amp, components, HU and sub box - all taken from my Octavia vRS

I'm going to have a go at fitting it all myself - I was going to get it done professionally but the cost would buy some Konis :finger:

I have fitted systems in the past so have an idea what to do

Any tips/hints

- Something to do with a lead needs sorting to prevent the diagnostics screwing up?

- Is it still - live to the battery - earth to the bodywork, remote lead and RCA's to the HU?

- are there clips holding the door cards on and should I buy a load of spare clips for when I break them??

Cheers

There are a few useful posts in the ICE folder - Xavier (tfboy) is your man for Furby installs (eg http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showthread.php?t=9209).

Things to remember are fit the main fuse next to the battery to protect the power cable, keep earth leads thick and short with good clean connections to the bodywork, keep the RCA leads to amps seperate from the leadspower and speaker cables (and the vehicle loom if possible).

Not sure about the door cards on a Furby, but the Octy ones are held in place with lots of screws.

There should be a "proper" earth point below the rear speakers (behind the carpet) - it has a plastic crown around it to hold the wires. Should already be a couple of connections to it, including the rear speakers themselves...

(This is the only close-by point I could find, and was suggested by a mechanic at my local dealer...)
