Help - vRS running rough - any ideas?

Featured Replies

After just over a year/14k miles of running my 06 plate TFSI without a hiccup, this morning it has developed a 'fault'...the car is 'hunting' and refusing to idle at 900 revs as normal (jumps to 2,500 when in nuetral etc) - best way I can describe it is that it's like the car has a manual choke & I've got the choke pulled out even though the car is warm.

The car is still pulling under load like a train & as clean as ever (as far as I can tell) - but at low speeds/low revs there's a pronounced rough running and lurching between gear changes etc.

Has anyone experienced anything similar in their Octy II? Any ideas what could be the cause? Other than the rough running there are no other problem 'signs' - no warning lights have lit up and everything else about the car appears fine.

(nb - I have never run the car on anything other than V-Power).

All help much appreciated!

sounds like an air leak of some kind on the inlet side, check to see if any vac pipes have fallen off.;)

I've had the same problem in one of my previous cars. It was Golf3, no turbo. Went to a dealer. Car was out of warranty. They've changed one little piece of electronics, closed in 10x10cm black box. It was 30min. job and price was arround 80 euros (as I can recall, it was back in 1998).
