Couple of Problems

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've noticed a couple of problems with my Superb (1.9TDI 130bhp):

1. The car has misted up inside a couple of times with climatronic set to Auto, does the aircon need recharging?

2. The water temperature gauge needle has fluctuated dropping to 50 or 60 then going back up to 90.

Any ideas?

Thanks

1. 'Auto' turns the air con (and thus the dehimidifier) on and as required to match a particular setting. As long as the air con blows cold when set to its lowest setting, you should be OK (might be tricky to tell in this cold weather, though!)

2. Sounds like your coolant temperature sensor is on its way out. I did a guide for the 1.4 MPi Fabia, here, which won't be directly transferable, but ought to give you a few pointers...

Hope this helps!

1. Mine has done it once. Turned the aircon off then on again - no further probalems.

2. Mine did that at about 3 1/2 years old. A new temp sender was replace under warranty -= no further problems

was it cold when this happened? if the outside temperature is below 5 degrees the air conditioning wont work.

I can't remember the first time it happened, it may have bee, second time it was about 10-11C. It was only last week, I was up around Crieff in Scotland on holiday for a few days, first day there was cold but got warmer.

How do you get the aircon to work then if the temp goes below 5. I've not come across this in other aircon cars.
