squeaking noise

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a squeaking noise coming from the n.s.f wheel on my Octavia mk1 vrs, (mainly on left turns) i can only explain the noise as a worn rubber mount/knackered shock.

Has anyone had the same problem?

Not had time to look at it yet as i can't bring myself to climb under the car in the cold :)

Wheel bearing?

To check (this requires an assistant), jack up NSF, and place axle stand if possible.

Hold wheel top and bottom, rock and note motion.

Now have your assistant apply the brakes firmly and repeat. If the motion reduces significantly, you have a worn wheel bearing that you've just taken the free play out of.

Could be the Anti Roll Bar Bush as mine is currently squeeking and needs replacing but my does it most of the time!
