Chip allows 2.0Tdi Octy to save fuel?

Featured Replies

Hi everybody.

A friend of mine has a Vw Passat 2.0 Tdi (140), and has instaled a chip that allows fuel consumption savings. For instante, in a full tank, that allows about 800 kms, he makes usually 1000 kms. That´s a considerable saving.

Has anyone ever heard of this, or has an opinion on this matter? Should it be just a saving measure or will I be damaging the engine and the electronics?

Thanks for your opinion.

He probably has some sort of plug in modchip. These give more power and can increase MPG.

Kinda on topic:-

Have those people with remaps in the TDi noticed significant increase in MPG after the remap with like for like driving?

Can't say as I only had the car unmodified for 1k miles (minimum advised mileage from SuperChips before they would remap).

But I can certainly say the fuel consumption was abominable during run-in - would shame a petrol!
