Nearside Wishbone

The rear bush on the nearside wishbone's "gone",got complete wishbone to replace it (£70 for complete wishbone or £40 for just the rear bush,plus it would need pressing in). However, the bolt through the front bush can only be withdrawn about an inch before it hits the (DSG) gearbox, can the engine/gearbox be jacked up about an inch and a half so the bolt can come out?,( I jacked it up about half inch but was'nt happy to take it up further). Or do you have to drop the subframe?. Or is there another way ?.
