rear washer!!!

Featured Replies

if this has been asked before i apologise...

i cant seem to get water out of my rear washer. the motor makes a healthy whirring noise but not water!

is there a trick im missing to getting the h2o supply back? its stopped working when my washer bottle ran dry

Hi is yours a hatchback? mine did the same and it was the washer tube had come disconnected in the boot, remove the cd changer and the panel trim on n/s in boot area and check connection near electrical plugs, if it is this washer tube then check the electrical connectors as water gets sprayed over them and they will need to be dried out, hope this helps!

yes it is a hatch. ill have a look tomorrow, too dark n cold now! thanks again

Don't bother taking the multichanger out, just pull the trim out above it.

I had to do mine today, took less than 30 seconds!!

I would disconnect the pipe at the rear jet first and try it, as the jets get blocked. Worth checking for water here first before you have to dismantle the car,its possible that you have not blown a pipe off.

Hi,

My rear washer has now failed, the garage have told me the valve has failed, and can not be sourced as a spare and has to be purchased along with a new pump, cost £90, are they having a laugh, I guess I need to start packing a water bottle and a squeegie...

or just go to a scrap yard, octavias are getting quite common.

Hi guys,

I have a similar problem.

My washer failed a while ago as the tube disconnected from the wiper behind the tailgate cover. I re connected it and its been fine for a while. Recently, although the wiper works and the tube is attached, no water comes out.

From what I can see the tube goes up to the top of the tailgate and into a short rubber section connecting to the roof of the car body.

What is supposed to be behind the lining near the CD changer? Will I find another tube there???

Are there any other places to check the tube?

Does it go along the nearside or offside of the car to the bonnet??

Thanks,

Stu

As Mart says above...disconnect the pipe from the wiper arm first then try it...if water comes out then it is the jet that is blocked, and you won't need to look any further .
