Thinking of replacing my Stream with MFD2

1: Will all MFD2's (including the new DVD/Chrome ones) swap with the Stream ? ie it doesn't have to be Skoda specific (I do like this one !2007 MY "C" VW DVD MFD2 Navi/Sys, V4 DVD map - CHROME! on eBay, also GPS Systems, Navigation GPS, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 25-Mar-08 20:48:26 GMT))

2: I assume the MFD2 will not play MP3 (unlike my Stream) unless using the Aux in ?

Point 1, I am pretty certain that is 100% correct

Point 2, Correct again, you are good at this MFD2 stuff mate :)

You must have a special one then? how do you navigate with an MP3 cd in then :)

They will hook up to a phatbox, or to the aux input or play mp3's through multimedia adapter.

I know my CD based MFD2 does not play mp3's from it's nav cd slot

I believe Mr Fish has his Jumbo box aux input wired up.

Why would you need to play an MP3 cd in the nav cd slot? I was refering to the cd changer in the boot.

The VW derived unit will of course come with the gaudy blue and red lighting scheme as well as the VW splash screen on start up.

If you can live with this then fair enough.

I have mine hooked up to the jumbo box AUX jack and an A/V adaptor that plugs in the rear of the MFD2, this enables my iPod to output audio and video through the multi pin adaptor instead of the headphone jack, this means the sound is a better quality and much much louder.

The nav CD slot will play CD-R's that are recorded in a CD format (cda files?) but mine didn't like MP3/WMA/AAC/OGG files on the disc.

And I have no autochanger as the original HU was an Audience.
