Fabia door microswitch

Featured Replies

Hi all,

my fabia 02 drivers door light has stopped working |(as well as the lights on warning - which has caught me out twice) can anyone tell me how to get it out ant change/check it?

cheers

If it is down to the switch in the door its part of the lock/catch assembley. Will require a new one. You have to strip the ancilleries carrier out of the door to get at it.

Err, strip the what? does that mean that I will end up with another key? One to get in and one to start the car?

Thanks

No its nothing to do with the key.

Behind the door trim is a big metal plate that seals the door. It also carriers the window regulator. This all needs to be stripped down to access the catch.

No, find the metal loop on the B post and the corresponding catch in the door, that is what Lummox is referring to. To access that you need to strip the door.

Soooo, I pull off the trim then take out the door lock and take off the microswitch - replace the ??????? unit. What do I ask for when I go to the dealer?

Cheers

Remove the door trim and the carrier (the big metal plate), with the door catch attached, you will also need to remove the lock barrel. The micro switch is built into, and is part of the catch. This costs around £70.

Not quite that easy.

Remove door trim,

Remove window

Remove wiring loom

Remove outer door handle

Remove bowden cable

Remove ancilleries carrier

Replace door catch (has the micro switch in it about £70)

Refit all parts not over tightening bowden cable or the dead lock goes over centre and the door locks shut and you wont be able to open it againw ithout breaking something.

Well we agree on the price then ;)

Thats a little bit more thorough than how a certain Mr. Haynes would describe re-assembly, just what I would expect from a Carlsberg technician.:)

Don't know about the price I was thinking at 69 pounds, 8 shillings and threepence 9 and just rounded it up.

Hello.

I have the similar problem with my door switches.

Front right and rear left doors seems to have faulty sensors (or microswitches).

Central locking works fine, but cabin lights and light in front right doors are not working, and indicator on dash too. They works when the front left doors are opened.

Is this something that should be repaired, or I can leave it as is (£70 x2 is expensive for me :)).

Is there any fuse maybe for front right and rear left doors that I should check?

Hi,

I'm also having a problem with the microswitch on the drivers door. It works with the catch semi-closed, but not with the catch fully closed. It seems that replacing the microswitch is both costly and ackward, is there a simple hack anyone can think of that could fix this?

Cheers guys,

Paul

Does anyone have a picture of that microswitch?

The regular microswitch cost <2 EUR.

I was wondered if I could modifie some?

Thats a little different as the mircoswitch is seperate. The one in the catch is built into the unit, one of five IIRC.
