Collinite - Autoexpress winner Polish tests

Featured Replies

Polish mega-test | Products | Auto Express

Verdict

THERE could only be one winner, as the Collinite’s beading was way ahead of the rest. Liquid polish fans should go for Meguiar’s Cleaner Wax, while the CarPlan EcoCar is the green choice.

Top 3

  1. Collinite No476S
  2. Meguiar’s Cleaner Wax
  3. CarPlan EcoCar Polish

Can anyone guess what my favourite wax is??

:P

Read this yesterday, forgot to post it up. I wonder if the same comments people made last year still hold up?

Classic. They've always been biased towards Turtle in the past.

is there a big collinite ad in the magazine as apposed to turtle wax

Gilly always looking for frauds

I noticed they'd recommended Collinite and Aqua Wax - but didn't 'let on' earlier as I didn't want you to crow too much :P

I'm still amazed a wax can win a Polish Mega-test! ;)

Seriously though, it's not helping the public's understanding of the difference between two, if publications like AE produce articles like this.

Good result for Collinite though

Steve

I found it funny when i saw the Polsih test and colli wining, but at the same time my dad now thinks i'm slightly less mad for spending £18 on the kit.

agreed!

why do some manufacturers call polishes waxes and vice versa. How do you tell?!

e.g. I assumed TW nano tech polishing wax was a protecting wax!

If a product says wax on it I tend to assume its for protecting paintwork and NON ABRASIVE

Can anyone guess what my favourite wax is??

:P

Hmmmmm I wonder............

What makes me laugh is that the Collinite is one of the only products in the list that they tested that realistically would be any good t achieve a durable finish.........no contest really.................

never doubted the aqua wax, its good stuff, also quick and easy to use.

It's all very confusing to me......

I wash the car, polish it and then wax it.

Should I wash,polish,polish, or wash, wax,wax, or wash,wax,polish,or......

They're all out to get your money, fairy liquid worked for my dad, and a brillo pad on the chrome bits......

Bah!

The thing is that a polish is really contains a 'cutting' agent and I think that's the thing that people forget.........wax is really a sealant........

I know this really....:D

My Fabia is as clean as a pin under all the muck

I know that sounds daft, but i'm sure you know what I mean. When I deliver it to its new owner shortly it will be waxed as well, and looking like new.

The wifes Fabia, on the other hand has just had a wash, and although it looks clean, it could do with a clean......

Does that make sense?

and mr shean is a polish.

A different one every couple of weeks?

and mr shean is a polish.

My mate uses Mr Sheen on his car:eek:

It looks well actually, well it does have wax in it.........

Does that make sense?

I know what you mean mate, my car looks clean usually but it could do with a 'clean'..........

Technically a wax and a sealant are two different things..with a sealant being made from man-made 'ingredients', with a wax containing natural products i.e carnuaba wax amongst other things.

Both are last stage protection for paintwork however.

So define a wax such as Meguiar's NXT then, that has man-made polymers in it ;)

Nothing is ever straightforward :D

I'd say it is strictly speaking a sealant, but they are using "wax" as a marketing term to boost sales to the uneducated masses!

:o

my nephew used to use Mr Sheen on the dashboard of his Mk3 Escort - the thing glowed like it was nuclear - he even used it on the steering wheel which made for 'interesting' driving experiences!
