Is it same Oil

Featured Replies

I have done a few searchs on here, but can not find the actual answer to my question (Probably just being thick)

Is it the same oil for the:

Skoda Octavia 1.9TDi 110BHP

Skoda Fabia 1.4TDi PD 75BHP

Ford Galaxy 1.9TDi PD 115BHP

These are three of the cars we have, and I have a feeling it is the same oil in all, so if it is, I will be buying in bulk.

But need to be sure before hand.

Thanks all

If you buy VW506.1 or VW507.0 standards oil you will be fine using that in all of them on variable or fixed servicing.

I have done a search on the opieoils website (Banner above)

and it is saying that they all use the same, which is 505 01 which didnt seem right, this is why I was asking.

Thanks for the reply, but no doubt some other people will come back with other opinions (All welcome btw!)

Depends, they probably can all use 505.1 if you are on fixed interval servicing.

The reason I said 506.1/507.0 is that 506.1 was the variable servicing standard for oil and this has been replaced by VW507 (usually 5w-30) to allow for cars with DPF's.

The VW 506.1/507 are good enough for variable servicing and more than good enough for fixed servicing.

If you are on fixed, the I'd say that oilman may well be right for VW505.1 as that was what the 110TDI used if on fixed

It is on the long life service intervals.

So I am looking for 506 01/507 01 then.

Thank you

Yes 506.1 is 0w30 and 507.1 is 5w30.

I find the millers stuff particularly good value, but oilman sells plenty of other good brands too such as fuchs.

Either should work fine in your cars as I believe none of them have a DPF

When changing the oil, on the VAG cars you need to put a new sump plug in as opposed to a washer.
