I believe that is the name it's been given in India as they still sell the MkI Octavia there.

Think it's called the "Ming Lau" in China.

Yes, The Octy Mk2 is called Laura in India. The Mk 1 Octavia vRS is still sold there too.

I thought the ad was funny though.

I assume that's what gets things selling in India.

I know I'll get flamed if this is thought to be off topic, but re company names, it was on the radio that Nescafe means "not coffee" in Portuguese so it has to be marketed under a different name there...

Sorry, but this isn't really a Roadside Hotel topic is it? If it is :duck:

Thread moved. :) Thanks for the heads up, ladies :)

Hadn't seen this ad before. I think it's quite neat, but I suppose it's not politically correct for the UK / the image Skoda want to bring to the uk. Shame really. Would spice things up a bit :D

The lightening at the end reminds me of the original advert for the 2.8 Capri.

The Skoda advert is in the same vein as Brut aftershave, when men were men and women knew their place...

Ah yes , the 'Capri 2.8i , it goes like..... ' one... :) I remember it well ,that was back in the day when you were allowed to show a car going fast in adverts....
