It says in the original sales brouchure (can't remember though!)

If I recall correctly the alternator is rated 10 Amperes higher than the battery. I think I have an 80AmpereH battery, so the alternator would be 90Amperes.

Either way, it's easier to get to the battery label and add 10!!!

These are the option codes for alternator and battery, taken from the thread here.

8GD.....alternator - 90A

8GL.....alternator - 120A

8GM.....alternator - 70A

J0L.....battery - 340A (70AH)

J0R.....battery - 380A (80AH)

J1L.....battery - 280A (60AH)

J1P.....battery - 220A (44AH)

J1U.....battery - 450A (95AH)

Have a look at the sticker inside the front cover of your car's Service Schedule or in the boot under the carpet to see which of those options you have fitted.

My 4X4 has 8GD (90A alternator) and J1L (280A 60AH battery).
