remote locking help needed

Featured Replies

Hi all Ive read through a lot of threads on here regarding remote locking problems but cant find one that helps me.Ive just got a 2000 V reg SLXi estate but it only came with one key and no tag.The central locking works from the lock but not remotely. The last owner said it was working up til a few months ago .I would like to get another key as i dont like only having one but was wondering how to get the first remote working so I could then get a 2nd one and reset as per the owners manual.Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

First calls are battery and battery and switch contacts in the remote.

^^^ Good call.

You know the key is working by holding one of the buttons. The little red LED should flash every second or so :)

Hi thanks for that. The LED was flashing but I still took it apart and cleaned everything up but still no joyicon9.gif.Is there any way to get this remote retuned to the car or is there nothing else I can do?

Do you have the owner's manual? The resynchronisation procedure is described in there. I think it's been described on here before too, so try using the site search facility.

After that, I'm afraid we have to start suspecting the receiver unit.

Thanks Ken.yes i do have the owners manual but it seems you need 2 keys to do it.I only have the one key and this is what is confusing me

HTH

You need another key though

Procedure For Matching Remote Key Fobs To The Car:

Using a spare key switch the ignition on.

Insert the key to be programmed into the driver's door lock.

Manually lock the driver's door using the key.

Press the Lock or Unlock button on the fob once.

Wait for a least one second.

Press the Lock or Unlock button on the fob twice.

The vehicle horn will sound to indicate correct programming.

EDIT: Sorry, miss read your post.

Ah, in which case you do need another key first! Oh yeah, and 2 keys were standard kit when the cars were new.

thanks for the help (and patience!!!)so far.I guess i,m going to have to get another key. Will I be ok getting any of the keys from ebay and changing the transponder in the fob or will these just cause even more problems with conflicts on the immobiliser?

the immobiliser is a hard one but will let you know the weekend if a new transponder is easy to code (well matt will i aint got a clue)

i think the old transponders if you buy a second hand key cannot be coded for some reason not sure why thought they would

good luck mate
