Water leak in roof ?

Featured Replies

Only had the octavia for 3 days and everything was fine untill...it rained. In the morning there was water inside the roof liner gathering at both a pillars. but it was also damp around the sunroof.

It is an electric sunroof and there appears to be some staining around the drivers side of the sunroof so it would look like its been doing this for a while.

Could this be the seal on the glass itself as all 4 drain holes are free of any blockages.

How difficult is it to replace this seal if this is whats wrong and is there anything else i can check, its a 1998 1.6 glxi Octavia.

Thanks for the help again.

Justin

I think you've solved your own problem with the question; it's almost certainly the seal! Try rubbing some Vaseline into it before anything else.

Vasaline...what a great idea i have done this as a temp measure and its booked in to skoda for a new sunroof water seal on tuesday.

Do they have to remove the whole headlining or is there any way of short cutting it. They say it will take around 3 hours to do, Least it should be sorted then.

Has anyone else had experiance of a sunroof seal failiure?

thanks

my old vrs had a water leak in the roof but I didn't have a sunroof. It turned out that the winscreen had been replaced in the past and not glued fully at the top of the screen and when it rained it used to come through the hold and collect in the front of the roof lining and in the courtesy light.

Dealer fixed it under warranty without any quibbles.

Well the vasaline disnt work the water is still collecting at both a pillars in the roof lining. I hope that its just the seal in the sunroof as i cant think of anything else.

Cheers

The sunroof might be slightly misaligned when "closed". Check the gaps are even and that the glass is parallel to the roof all round next.
