Mobiles & Car Radios Help Please !!!

Featured Replies

A car kit was fitted in my Wifes L & K today & its not wired through the Radio Speakers. the only speaker is the one on the phone which will be crap above about 30 mph.

Aparently according to the installer, because of the type of radio installed it cant be wired through the speakers. Is this true as I dont believe it & has anybody got anything in writing that contradicts this

A quick response would be helpful as I want to "have words" early tomorrow

Stuart

I'm pretty sure that g7pkf - aka Dean - has done it on his Octavia Estate. He has his own web site which contains loads of useful info, including how to wire up a mobile phone to the car speakers here. I suggest you send him a PM asking for advice.

Time to wake the dog........

Yes, it can be wired into the head unit, complete with a "mute" feed to silence the radio \ cd etc..

I have some diagrams somewhere, will post em later.

Thanks Ian

If you could post them it would be really helpful

Stuart,

Click on the link on Denis' post. It has the wiring diagram and gives the pin positions for the various bits (eg mute etc)

or click this one (its the same but saves scrolling) http://g7pkf.homeip.net/cars/octavia/radio.htm

Just what I needed, although it's now at:

http://cars.packetradio.co.uk/octavia/radio.htm

although the original link is worth following if you have a sense of humour related to geeky computer stuff . . well it made me laugh anyway

The last Sony Bluetooth kit I installed (in a VW Transporter) also had the speaker lead kit as well. It just plugged straight into the speaker loom, no cutting or splicing. Is definately a lot better than a seperate speaker.

Stuart,

Don't know if you have had the engineer back yet!

When I got my L&K, there was (& still is!) , a small platic bag with a black connector block and pins, which I am sure is for the telephone input on the std head unit.

I didn't use mine as I have a Woodstock which I got the input lead for - it's great having the audio feed through the head unit, lots of audio and control from the radio volume control.

You should have one of these connectors, but if not, let me know & I can send it to you.

Cheers,

John.

Installed Nokia bluetooth carkit. I wired up the standard head for mute and phone input as per the diagram and instructions on the link listed above and it works like a dream.

My main worry is that Nokia say the blue wire from their unit (ignition sense) should be connected to a 12V source which is live when ignition is on but NOT interrupted by starting the engine. Without a wiring diagram or guidance (Skoda dealer was little help) I have only been able to connect to an interrupted 12V ignition source. This works as long as the key is turned smartly to the 'start' position and then released when engine is running at which point the bluetooth kicks in and pairs with the phone.

 <----just had his blue tooth extracted?
