Octavia Drivers door locked

Featured Replies

Hi All

My name is Steve Weeks and I have a T reg Octavia. Two days ago whilst locking the car the key jammed in the lock and it was only retrieved after a lot of manipulation. Since that the drivers door has been locked and will not open as the key only revolves totally in the lock. Using the passenger door lock opens all the other doors but not the drivers door, neither does pulling the internal latch, although it does lift the button which drops back down when the latch is released. Has anyone any ideas how to release the locking mechanism so that I can open the door so I can replace the lock.

P.S. Does anyone know where I can obtain a lock set and keys?

Regards

Steve Weeks

Welcome. I have moved this thread to the Octavia forum where you are more likely to get the advice you need.

I was wondering about pulling the fuse, but I think you have to able to open the driver's door to do that! Try disconnecting the battery, opening the door and reconnecting the battery?

After that, yes you need a new lock, but a dealer may well be able to obtain a replacemet to fit your key blades. They managed to get the right paint colour for mine from the chassis number.

It is possible but very fiddly to remove the interior panel with the door closed. With this removed you could get direct access to the lock cables/rods. You could try hitting the outside door panel with the palm of your hand whilst getting someone to operate the locking. You can get lock repair kits, there are two part numbers and only come to a few £ for both.
