sunroof still leaking after dealer fitted new seal

Featured Replies

Well i have a leak which collects at the top of both a pillars so went to my skoda dealer who diagnosed a faulty seal on the sunroof so had this replaced and they made sure all drain holes were clear.

This morning the car is leaking in worse than ever so i have to go back on friday where they have to take all the headlining out to see where the water is coming in.

Has anyone else had a similar problem...I have checked the front windscreen seal by pouring water in and it is fine but when i pour on top of the sunroof it pours in from the seal.

There does seem to be a slight gap at each corner and from inside the car if i push up on the front of the sunroof then these slight gaps disapear.

Its a long shot but is it known that maybe the sunroof is (bent!) and not shutting right at the front.

If this is causing my leak would it be a case of maybe bending the mechanim back or is this not as simple.

Its doing my head in now i just wish it would stop raining .

Has anyone else had a leaky sunroof on the MK1 Octavia.

Thanks again.

I've not had a leaky sunroof, but would suggest doing this.

Park the car on a piece of flat, level ground, without putting the handbrake on, preferably in bright sunlight. Get out, and walk a bit away. Now have a really critical look at it, paying particular attention to evenness of colour and gloss on paint finish, and of panel gaps.

I really hope this isn't the case, but I'm trying to eliminate a warped (probably by badly repaired crash damage) shell.

Also, AIUI the sunroof fit and closure position are adjustable.

Thanks for the help... I have put 2 peices of wood to wedge the roof up at the front and its water tight now.

I think it needs ajusting but is this an easy thing to do and how do you do it. Skoda are going to ajust it for me free on friday at 8:30 but if its an easy enough thing to do will save me traveling 100 miles to get it done.

Thanks again
