Air filter for TDI VRS query

Featured Replies

For years Ive used K&N filters in a variety of vehicles.

Been looking around and seen the Pipercross panel filter which looks nice too. Their website says its cleanable, but does it need re-oiling like the K&Ns ?? They are also NOT made from cotton like K&N and Green filters.

Any comments about these airfilters and also combined induction systems?

Ive never used one of the induction kits - I presume they can be rather noisy though.

Also Ive not had the airbox apart yet - anything not obvious about its dis-assembly that I need to be aware of ?

I use one in my TFSI - they are made of foam. Never cleaned mine!

I have a Pipercross Panel in my vRS TDi

Easy to fit, 8 screws IIRC

Also there is a Plastic diffuser tray inside the airbox (just rests in it at the bottom) that i removed too

No problems encountered with it,

there are 2 available from what i have seen/read - one that comes with oil, and one that doesent - kinda makes me think oiling isnt necessary, but wont harm it either - i oil mine as mine came with the spray oil

I noticed the car is a bit more throaty since (noise wise) when you throttle on and off - not a bad thing... :D

Devil's advocate time....

Is this really going to make much of a difference or even any over a normal paper on that's regularly banged out?

Answers on a postcard....

Chris

Be careful as to not over oil the filter as it can fook the MAF.
