Possible Oil Leak

Featured Replies

I wonder is anyone can shed any light?

I took my VRs on a 500 mile round trip today to visit family. I did my usual oil check before leaving and it was full.

I got back home this evening and parked in a temp parking spot while unloading and when I moved it I noticed a large patch of oil. Moved car again and sure enough there was a few drips. seems to be leaking quite fast. I checked the dipstick and its still reading full however the car is hot.

Any one got any ideas what it could be? or what to check?

Car is still under warranty but i'm hoping its not to serious as it ran fine all the way there and back.

Sump plug? Hard to say without getting under.

Well its not oil! :)

I had a look a where the first patch was ant its gone. Very small patch of what seems like greesy water (Possibly coolant) under the car this morning.

Coolant seems quite hight.

Car would have been hot as i did 200 miles without going below 30?

Anone got an idea or is it a case of get it in to a dealer?

Did you have air-con running ???

Did you have air-con running ???

That'd be my bet - the greasy look could just be cack from the road coming off the condenser...

It did have me the first time I saw it as well :eek:

I did have air-con on all the way back.

That's probably it then; I can get a pool under the car from stopping after 15mins on "full chill" (not hard to need after 9 hours sat in bright sunlight).

It should be left of centre, around about the base of the wheel arch.

:orb_flipp Feeling like a bit of a prat now....Thank you all for your replies

It caught me the first time I drove a car with air, until I sniffed the liquid, discovering it was distilled water, then tasted a drop of it, then realised it was frost off the chiller melting.
