Columbus Video in Motion

Featured Replies

Hi,

Does anyone know who can knock out the speed signal on the columbus for the video in motion so the passenger:rolleyes: can watch a dvd as the car is moving.

Secondly, is there an AV output on the unit that i can plug my headrest monitors into so the kids can watch lazytown.....

thanks in advance:)

Ever thought it might be designed like that for a reason ?

Totally agree that switching the screen off whilst in motion was a safety idea and IS a good thing. The main reason I was asking was that if it could be done, there would be no need to fit a seperate dvd player in the boot for the rear screens and would just be a case of running the rca leads to auxilary output (if available) from the columbus.

I did do the flick switch on the gala wire on my RNS-D on my A4 when I fitted it and as you say works fine. Only problem is that the columbus uses CAN to get the speed signal.

Thanks for your views and appreciate

The video out on the columbus which drives the rear screens remains active at all times, its only the display on the headunit itself thats blanked.

Using the device linked to earlier can cause issues whilst navigating as the update frequency from the GPS alone is a lot less than the combined GPS/Speed sensors/Steering. The columbus collects data from GPS, Speed sensing via the ABS sensors and Steering angle. The last 2 of these are lost if you fit the device above.
