 Well done for cracking on with it. The inner wing tops and "P" sections are available as repair panels.

Cheers Dave, where would l get these panels from and roughly how much??? l was thinking of having a strip welded along the top then having the wings welded back on as the lip on the wings are quite rotten :(

She turned over today didnt get her running but at least l know she isnt seized :)

 Skoparts International [skudman] is your man, he's very enthusiastic and imports parts from Czech. He's on the other Skoda forum that I'm pretty sure you're on, worth sending him a PM.

Ahh yes lm getting a wind screen from him :) might have to order more parts...

Looks like you're doing a proper job there! That rot doesn't look so bad - I've seen much much worse. P plates don't cost a great deal from memory.....it's been a few years since I had some but they were about £20ish. Skoparts Int is your man!

This is the one that had a viynl roof fitted? Good to see it moving in a positive direction! I shouldn't worry - they ALL rot behind the front wings. What are your plans and intentions with it?

Hi, yeah its the very same l was a bit disheartened when l found the rot but after another look and a friend look its not as bad as l thought :)

A quick turn around has now become something of a rebuild my 1st l might add :/

Im hoping to go for a clean look lowered on some nice alloys vw influences and yes a vinyl roof or even a wrap this time maybe a purple ish color to match the interior :) l was hoping to have it done this year but more than likely ready for next year....

To be fair they all rust so I wouldn't get too bogged down by that. I've bought two Rapid's so far, one with 23,000 miles from new and the other with 38,000 miles from new. Both have been cherished in the same family from new and yet both have required welding in one way or another. Otherwise though, these old Skoda's are cracking cars. It would be nice to see it retain the viynl roof as that was a very rare extra ... I've only ever seen one other Rapid with one and that was in Czech.

WOW l didnt know that, in that case it will go back on in black, l heard the purple interior is quite rare 2, l had an Estelle 105 lux before this that was low miles but obviously had been welded, the problem is where do you stop...

Good work going on. Re interior, are you sure it is purple by intention? I say that because I though mine was too, but actually it turns out the tuffled fabric seat material would have been black once but has been bleached purple by sunlight I guess, the give away is that where the fabric wraps round on the seat bases and therefore out of direct sunlight means the fabric has remained more black than purple!

Cheers Lee its my first go at a semi restro but all comments have been good so far..lm not sure about the interior but it does look purple but if memory serves it does look darker round the edges, they are black backed..

Removed the front clip now ready to be sorted for repainting and under the body is having a coat of stopper then painted up, any suggestions on a good hamerite type paint for underneath and inside wings.??

Also can anyone tell me the center bore size for some adapters to be made :)

Hi there a pinned subject vinyl roofs on the other forum. ( Where u r also a member ) this has been sourced by members of that forum up north I believe check it out

Hi Newbie, yeah l had read about the vinyl roof, lm defo going back down that route saves having to spend hours sorting the roof...

stonio, the user name is the large text that appears top left in the grey band over the posting. The word "Newbie" directly above your avatar pic is applied to everyone who's only made a few postings, and will change when they make more. Similarly with the word "Members" that appears below it. Compare that info from your post #14 with mine in this one.

Why do you want to put a vinyl roof on a Rapid??? It was never ever sold like that. Vinyl roof was supplied only for Estelle 120 and 130LE and LSE.

I bought mine with a vinyl roof and to be honest the roof is pretty bad because of this so l will be treating it and then replacing the vinyl...
