Need to spill my guts - CV boot...

Featured Replies

Had recently third car in the family MOTed. The car failed because of deteriorated constant velocity joint boot. Can't complain about this as the car is 10 years old and rubber can give up at this age.

So imagine my surprise, when a couple days later I collected my '62 Superb (October, 11k miles on clock) after oil change with a note about CV boot leaks :wall: . Had some time yesterday to have a check myself and drivers side shaft is proper wet :swear:. Yes, I have warranty and this should be sorted under warranty but it's such a waste of my time. I'm a contractor and I'm not paid when I wait for the car to be repaired.

Hopefully this is the last issue with this car because we've got next 4.5 years in front of us :D .

BTW - I've noticed that my coolant is on MIN. I want to top it up with a mixture 1:1 coolant:demineralised water. What coolant should I use? Is it just "the red one" or should I be after something specific? Thanks for help

I'd use genuine coolant, it's not expensive.

It details in the manual how to read the code on your coolant bottle to determine which coolant you need...

Coolant is on G13 now, could be that rather than the latter G12 plus, plus. They are a different shade of pink/purple.

Got G13 today at £10.60. Thank you guys .

Got also car "repaired" today. Initially they wanted to order brand new cv boot but all ended up on changing the clip only. See how this works.
