  1. Ahoy.

I'm having to reluctantly sell my 2009 C30 D5. I'm changing jobs and no longer have the need for a personal car.

Here's all the details, can add more on request:

    - Polestar remap (worth £600) paperwork to prove. Still easily achieves 45-50mpg on average and more on motorway runs! So you get the best of both worlds.
    - One previous owner from new. Full Volvo service history.
    - 98,000 miles.

    - Bi-Xenons
    - No scratches or dents. Only ever hand washed & waxed by myself.
    - Top of the range Dolby premium sound system. MP3 & Aux input.

  2. I can't wait ,as I 've been promised the test drive in each by my friendly VW dealer.

Oh! also the new Polo GTI when it is arriving in February 2015. See what the Fabia vRS COULD BE LIKE, if the Skoda CEO had the ball to do the right thing!

Lucky man, look forward to hearing more about them! Only thing that 'erks me about the Polo R is that there's no manual option :/ Chuffed to hear with the new Polo GTI it WILL have a manual option, so hopefully the R will follow suit.

I just find auto's so soulless, especially in hot hatches. I know this is personal preference.

  3. Cheapest Golf R in approx. basic spec, is about £28OOO with 5000miles on the clock.,and it's in a different league in my opinion. Source VW used / Autotrader.

    So save those pennies.

I certainly prefer the look of the R over the GTI, although I've read a few reviews and many say the difference in price isn't justifiable and you may as well just get the GTI.

I've never driven either so can't say, but it does make me wonder..isn't the GTI just as good?

  4. Agreed.

It's the only French car I'd have though.

306 GTI or Rallye is quite appealing too. Although I know someone that's owned both and the electrics have failed epically as per usual with most things French.

Quite amusing when the car horn starts to die though, just ends up sounding like a toy with its batteries going flat.

  5. Speaking of schemers and chavs, the only people I've seen in the new Fiesta ST have been lads that look barely over 17 and chavs.

Don't want to be that person, but that immediately put me off it. Plus it looks like a fish with its mouth gaping open.

On the flip side the people I've seen interested in the S1 appear to be people looking for a fun run about as a second car, middle aged men that want an 'entry level Audi' (hah), or as you say young professionals earning a decent whack.

  6. I'd be lost in the vast space of an Octavia! I've always liked compact cars anyway - I had two Lupos and cars don't come much more compact than that!

If I replace the vRS in the second half of next year I'm really not sure what I'd go for. The Mountune upgrade on a Fiesta ST could probably overcome any misgivings I have. On the other hand, I might be better going for something older and classier - the owners of both the local garages I trust (one a VAG specialist) drive old Audis - depreciation has been and gone and with my very limited mileage I won't add many to the clock.

I might be biased, but if you're after a compact car get a Volvo C30 T5 (petrol) or D5. Never driven anything like it before, and it comes with a **** tonne of extras!

If you don't like them however, I'd probably suggest a Nissan Silvia S15 Spec R :D Completely impractical, vaguely compact and pretty rare.

  7. I'm quite surprised that the Leon cupra isn't selling much as in person they're quite something.

I guess this has a lot to do with more people buying diesel 'hot hatches' over petrol ones due to economy.

Not having a VRS fabia 3 in the pipeline is a huge fail in my eyes. Eff off the ridiculous insistence on auto over manual and people will lap it up.

It frustrated me when the Skoda head of business said, "only old people buy Skoda's so the vrs just won't work with the majority of our market.' Clearly doesn't know the market then.

The fabia 2 vrs models in my eyes didn't sell well because they just didn't look sporty enough! Kind of like a green loaf of bread on wheels.

They've got it right with this new model they just need the engines to compliment it.

  8. Thought I'd come over here! I also don't know anyone that owns one, but I work for Listers who franchise Audi, seat, skoda and they said the S1's are selling slowly.

I can't help but think it's only to do with its initial very high cost! I know it's an Audi and all but it takes the biscuit a tad.

That being said, my one hour test drive in one was a very memorable experience and has made me genuinely think of eyeing one up in the future! Very pleasent to drive around town as well as obviously giving it the beans on the backroads.

As a better comparison a bloke at work borrowed one for a month. He's 6'4" and said it felt cramped and he hated the suspension and lack of quality in the interior and the interior size just made him think, why not get a new seat leon cupra or S3 instead for similar money?

I disagree, I found the suspension liveable and by no means harsh. I'm 5'11" and didn't find it too cramped, although there is genuinely no room in the back seats. Plus it has tons of character and stupid power for a car so small.

Although with the new seat Leon cupra at 27k it seems like a silly decision to spend more on the s1 that comes with less. (Admittedly it's blessed with the Quattro system).

One thing I am royally cheesed off at is the fact that after speaking recently with the head of business at Skoda apparently no hot hatches version of the new fabia is in the pipeline.

Why?! I just can't understand this. Petrol or diesel, there are people out there that would LOVE to see the fabia go back to it a roots. You can't redesign a car and aim it at younger and sportier drivers and then offer these dire soul destroying measley powered engines.

I did say this in person to the head of business too lol. I don't think he understood my passion for the little fabias!
