  1. The Columbus arrived and is now in 10 min job having seen the guide online and having the correct parts and tools ready, screw driver and a trim removal tool (slight delay as my screw driver was too thick had to improvise) GPS antenna mounted under top dash just on metal rail behind centre air ducts all is well.

Plug&Play By simply plugging it in all works instantly inc climatic screens etc (haha unlucky to all the poor older model sufferers) only thing I need is the Maxidot nav box ticked in VCDS http://www.briskoda.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/emoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif

With thanks to fellow Briskodian EoinM for selling me his 2011 Columbus (LED) upon selling his VRS and Vectra1 for being his salesman of the year (must have been on commission)

Fubar, how do you remove the centre air vents. I'm just about to fit my Columbus and couldn't quite figure it out. I've had the Bolero out for a look but couldn't see anything obvious. The link guide you posted doesn't seem to be working for me?

    Cheers

  2. It was purchased from a 2nd hand vehicle parts dealer for the unit and code. He has a 100% feedback and sells loads so don't think it's dodgy. I've just emailed him and he's replied that he will check with the firm he uses to check all the radios. I'll wait and see ????

  3. I recently bought a Columbus RNS510 off eBay, which came with the code. However I went to fit it today and when I input the security code it told me it was incorrect!!

Do I need to get the code from a skoda dealer or is there someone more local (cheaper) I could take it to?

    Thanks

  4. I found myself in exactly the same predicament. I heard a couple of bad reviews regarding the radio and sound quality of the Ans. I ended up getting a 2012 Columbus RNS510 off eBay for 330 delivered. Then just needed the new trim which was 60 and a GPS antenna for a tenner. No Bluetooth but that doesn't interest me. No need to pay for fitting as its straight out and in. Glad I kept it with original parts and looks the business!!

  5. Yeah ill keep you updated as ive asked him ROB ro fit it at his shop the total comes to £400 whixh has stumped me slightly as if ibhold out you cam pick a columbus up on ebay for that sort of money but then again I will still have no bluetooth im guessing

Most Decent Columbus units I've seen go for around £450. Plus you need to buy the other trim surround which will set you back another £60(ish). At least the ans unit slots straight in. So your probably saving about £100.

  6. spoke to Rob Freddy i think im going to go for the ANS620 as it looks factory standard and keeps all the functions like cliamate control and OPS do you know if you unit has a USB port at the back so you can run a feamale cable from it?

It certainly looks the business. I was just about to buy a Columbus but this could have swayed me. Do you know the measurements of it? I have a Bolero so wondered if it fits straight in or if it needs a new surround. Keep me updated on how you get on. Cheers

  7. Hi all I have a 2010 Octavia VRS with a standard Bolero stereo. I really miss having sat nav and have been looking around and came across a 2009 Columbus unit with sat nav.

Can I simply straight swap the Columbus unit for my Bolero? Are the connections the same and will the sat nav work or do I need to buy something extra?

    Thanks in advance

  8. Could a local trimmer not dye the leathers to the same shade?

Thanks for all the advice. I'll leave it probably to next year and see how it goes. More as likely no one will notice but I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my car. It may be that I need to dye both front seats. I can't see that being a major drama?! Thanks again.
