Car insurance, well that's a pleasant surprise!
NathanG replied to Chris Berry's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Mileage and area are also big factors. I declare about 24k a year and park on my drive and i pay aprox £300 a year. 36, 8+ years nod, no kids, not married, single etc etc. -
Im currently on 140k on original turbo. You may need to look at an underlying issue, possibly driving style, type of driving you do i.e short/long runs, warming up, cooling down, servicing etc. i think anything could be possible but a turbo lasting 50k isnt normal dude. Email or txt the guy and ask him for the log book number, that way you can go on DVLA website and check the millage. Mods wudnt put me off. Buying a car thats already been done for you saves a LOT of time and money if done correctly but does take out the fun of learning. Get the millage checked dude. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Why are you only averaging 50k on a turbo. How are you driving it?

There a guy in Bromswich that breaks loads of them. He advertises on ebay. I went up there a couple of weeks ago to get some glass after my car got broken into and i messaged him from his number on ebay. I got up there and he had about 4 Fabia VRS's there. He was a really nice guy as well and his prices where cheaper than a scrappy. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-FABIA-VRS-BREAKING-SPOILER-ASZ-ENGINE-GEARBOX-TURBO-ALLOYS-PLUS-MORE-/311051841684?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item486c227094 -

My car shudders at idle quite badly but as soon as you turn the aircon on the shudder goes away about 90%. No idea what it is.

help please.. overheating car, no heating.. driving me nuts
NathanG replied to Emsy's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I agree, i've left my car on tick over for 4hrs and never heard a fan. Sounds like an air lock. -
Fabooka on here did mine. Love it and a really nice chap as well. There's a couple of us on here who've had his maps and love them but there's plenty more options available as said above. The choice is literally limitless.

From what i remember there IS a hole but its used for something already like the pedal assembly i think. I'm not sure, there is one and no it can't be used because something important is already filling it. Sorry.

Thats a really nice set, think i may have to get them tomorrow.

Im sure theres a tread somewhere on the fan switch. Its been coverd loads. Have a look at the search up the top on the right. It may even be under 'common problems' i think its called. Ive read about it on here thats for sure tho. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ive have left my car ticking over in my drive for 4hrs and never had the fans come on but i know they 'worked' as i checked with a multimeter. They have only ever come on with the aircon on and how i managed to get the non aircon working is detailed above. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My mate runs this all the time in his Passat (AFN engine), he swears by it and doesn't use anything else. I pay £12 for it from Vauxhall. There's a car club called the autobahn stormers. If you join them for £20 a year you get massive discounts at Vauxhall. I've owned a few Vauxhalls, my bother owns one and i do a bit of work on a couple of them so the £20 i paid to join paid for itself in about 2 months. Worth joining if you do a bit on Vauxhalls and like to use genuine parts.
-
Where do you live, any local motor factors normally sell them, failing that use ebay. I just typed 'spline sockets' into ebay and came up with 1699 results. I'll check later what size you need for the door lock.
-
Mine was the same. My fans wouldnt work either. As soon as i fixed the end of the compressor the fans worked.

I drilled out the rivets and put a thread down there.
