  1. I’ve not one through the whole topic, but my work took me all over Wales and I’m not sure if any one has mentioned this. The road from Llanidloes ( signposted Staylittle) to Machynlleth. Fantastic views of wild Wales, one great memory is travelling it in a thick layer of snow, on a bright sunny winter morning, roof down on my Saab auto diesel convertible. Put good tyres on a car and they keep going in snow.
  2. I've had my 2012 Superb Combi L&K from six months old, the TV facility always struck me as a nonsense but I did use it now and again for DAB radio. Recently I have got bored with the same old stations on FM and returned to DAB but there are far fewer stations on the car than on my DAB radios in the house, for example no Virgin Radio. I can't see that software updates would be relevant as surely it's only a retune? I've cleared the saved channels and switched the tuner setting of, restarted the radio, switched them on to no avail. HELP!
  3. My Superb is a 2012 L&K, owned from manager's demonstrator. Maps were out of date at delivery (as they always are year or two behind roads /limits etc.). The car has a DVD/SD card slot but did not come with a DVD or SD card with maps. Can I use the downloads listed here to update my system or is it risky?
  4. I had same message, in my case faulty RH Kessy antenna. Auto electrician sourced antenna (£30 ish) but we can’t locate the faulty one to change it!
  5. My Kessy isn't working 20102 Superb estate. Diagnosed as faulty RH antenna. Antenna sourced but we can't find the location to replace it - anyone know where it is?
  6. Have a look at this https://www.indy100.com/article/brexit-leave-remain-52-48-per-cent-voter-turnout-electoral-register-7399226 There is loads of stuff on the BBC giving breakdowns of voting but the referendum was only ever advisory,

  8. Run my VIN through three other sites including Skoda with no problems.
  9. Just checked and the chassis no and VIN are the same = so the site isn't recognising my VIN no. Sorry - pop over and have a look if you like - we're 109 miles from Fishguard :-)
  10. The only number I have access to is the chassis no on the original documentation. The site doesn't recognise this will see if I can check the VIN in the dark
  11. This is my idea of entertainment Fubar - it's great and £3/pint http://www.tinyrebel.co.uk/beers/fubar/
  12. It seems Santa (middle son) who is an enthusiastic techie is buying we an Amazon dot for Christmas. As we use a Hive thermostat (and will add intelligent plugs and bulbs - we travel a lot and I'll set up my shed with motion detectors linked to the Hive) and our music system is Sonos based it has a lot of potential to me. I'll report in January.
  13. The DSG box selects appropriate gears in MHO. On a nearby hill it selects 3rd and revs around 3k, 2nd would cause too high a rev range, ergo, I suspect that most of the time the GSG knows best. During my last test I didn't have cruise, which in the Superb operates from quite a low speed, I use it a great deal - I wonder how that would be seen?
  14. Have a look at my consumption on Fuelly below. Every litre has been recorded over nearly 30000 miles!
  15. My 2012 K&K has them and they are great in "sticky" weather, they came as standard, i'm not sure what I would pay for them but do miss them when I'm in one of our other cars.
  16. I passed my IAM test in an Alfa 156 manual and learned a lot during the test, the examiner was brilliant. We discussed gearboxes and the over ride facility on an auto. I moved onto a Mercedes CLK which in my opinion was the best auto I had driven but did require manual intervention, for example on long steep descents. Our Superb is a DSG and the box is brilliant. Every time I go down one particular hill I wonder what the examiner would suggest as the box selects the gear I would have used if I manually over rode (in this case 3rd). I have driven the (diesel) Superb down Porlock hill where the autobox selected a gear which meant little braking was required. Our Audi TT on the same hill required significant braking even getting into second gear. So: DSG - over ride on IAM test even if not necessary? Highish tune (225 bhp out of 1.8 litres) turbocharged engines - is it because they lack the compression of a diesel that there is less engine braking?
  17. Did mine 14 years ago - I'm still proud of it and try to apply what I learned but I must go back to the group and resit - be intersesting, should I use our DSG (Superb Combi) or one of the manuals (225 BHP Audi TT) ?
  18. Since we've had 4wd (range Rover HSE on a P plate - money pit - went, 52 plate Disco -great sold to rationalise number of cars) now a Superb DSG 4wd. We haven't had serious snow since. Prior to the Rangie we had bad snow and I was driving a Saab Diesel auto convertible with no problems. I think it was due to very new Continental summer tyres (I think). The Superb has a newish mid range set so I'll be interested if it ever snows.
  19. I have it running on two machines and I like it apart from one machine where every update removes my AMD Catalyst control centre - can anyone help?
  20. I think the Parliamentary guideline printed here are fundamental and seem to be reugularly forgotten. Allied to this, 46 million not voting, unable to vote or voting against the referendum, how can 17 million decide the fate of 65 million in a parliamentary representative democracy which is what our sovereign government is - we do not run the country by mob rule.
  21. I think it's a preying mantis - taken in Mallorca a month ago.
  22. I use a mobile who was with Cardiff Audi, does my Superb and my Audi TT. He's good but busy PM me if you want a contact.

  24. I fitted a Racechip box, car drives more smoothly has far more torque and is demonstrably more economical - I have run the car for periods with it fitted and without, all fuel logged on Fuelly.
