    Bad Points

    • On Boxing day 2016, a Citroen Xsara reversed into the drivers door while the car was parked, damaging the front drivers door and rear passenger door. This was repaired at a cost of £1068 by Pennings Accident Repair Centre, Leighton Buzzard. The quality of the repair is excellent and the damage cannot be seen. Still, I considered it worth mentioning.
    • There is a slight rattle from the drivers door (sounds like a cable is hitting the plastic door card - could be a simple fix with some tape)
    • There is an occasional squeak from the N/S anti-roll bar bush when going over bumps. I spray it with Silicone spray every month which seems to stop it.
    • Several stone chips to the bonnet.

Reason for sale is that I am moving onto a BMW 1 Series 118D. Car will be available from around 08/04/17. Viewings after 17:30 weekdays and all day Sat & Sun. No tyre kickers please :)imageproxy.php?img=&key=66c1d7df650950da

  2. As stated above by Rusty Nuts, 505.01 (typically a 5w/40) is superseded by 507 (which is usually found in 5w/30).

My 1.4pd Tdi has run on this for all of its 60k miles and runs perfect.

Alexvrs, what oil extractor have you gone for? I am after one myself and want to ensure that the extractor tube will fit down the oil dipstick tube ok.

    Thanks,

  3. Like you say the clutch would fail this early dependent how the first owner treated it, but the new buyer of the car would have expected it to last longer & is not fit for purpose.

If it was me I'd be reminding them of my consumer rights (consumer protection act) and involving skoda UK for them to pick up the matter under warranty

  4. Speed of the fan is controlled by the fan control module. Have a look on Google to see what its like, and then see if your car has one, it will be in the nearside near the chassis leg, close to the bottom of the radiator itself.

Have you tried the fuses? I take it the garage would have checked.

Does the fan operate when the a/C is turned on?

  5. Has any of the fuel been kept? Get it tested, tests cost around £50. Wouldn't have thought it would be from a wrong fuel fill months ago. Petrol in a diesel will cause huge problems. Petrol is a solvent where diesel is an oil. Petrol therefore eats away at the seals and injection system of a diesels engine.

I would have the fuel tested, possible that the fuel when filling up was contaminated. But it's unlikely to have been contaminated with petrol. Water and other contaminates can cause such issues.

  6. This may sound odd, but are you trying to close the passenger window with either of the doors open?

I had a fault a while ago where the loom in the door was chafing where it passes through the rubber boot, into the 'shell' of the car. When opening the door (drivers side in my case) the windows would not budge. I concluded that the wires in the door were being compromised further.

So,try with doors closed, or, if they are already closed, try with them slightly ajar etc
