  1. @MartiniB Thanks very much to you and the other contributors. Managed to update the maps to 2024 version from 2017 via sd card with no issues. Much appreciated
  2. Hi Raul, Have you looked at the 2l 150 bhp manual diesels ? According to Autotrader, they return around 58 mpg around town vs 47 mpg for the 1.4l 148 bhp petrol. My 2017 SE L Exec has returned about 60mpg combined over my first 540 miles - mix of urban and 2 x 80 mile motorway journeys. Sorry I couldn't answer your question - diesels for the last 30 years
  3. Yes, I used something similar when my Columbus lost it's satellites (water ingress in the shark fin) and has worked fine since
  4. Do you mean the Navigation part or the whole unit? If it is the whole unit there is a lot of info via google (try "RNS 510 restarting"). One of the links is this This suggests a firmware update / re-installation.
  5. A few years ago, when my wife thought we would be adding another 2 to our brood (a night at a clairvoyant - don't ask !!) I started looking around for a MPV and settled on the Merc Vito. I really liked the versatility - 3 x 2 in luxury or 2 x 3 with loads of space in the back. Luckily, we didn't need it and now I'm very happy with the Superb, but I really like the sound of the hyundai i800. At eh time I looked at the Grand Voyager, but got put off by the generally bad reviews
  6. Oh dear, sounds like you have "bought a pup". Yours must be the worst Superb out there. As you bought it new I would take it back to the dealer and ask them to sort it out. Also get in touch with Skoda Uk to see if the can do anything for you. Your (long) list of issues is very unusual.
  7. Agree with Noddy90 I had an issue with my Columus a while ago when it gradually stopped working - kept rebooting intermittantly and came back in German, wouldn't hold Radio settings, stearing wheel controls stopped woking, Maxidot stopped working etc. etc. Re-installed the firmware and all was fine. Started to stop holding radio satations again so upgraded firmware (and installed v 13 maps). All good now
  8. Wait? Do you really need to update the maps? See Upgrading Columbus firmware and maps : http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/298284-guide-upgrading-columbus-firmware-and-maps/ BURN firmware / maps to disk, do not copy it To get maps on a single DVD or SD card look here http://christian-jeanin.ro/blog/software/maps-tool-en/ Use a good quality disc and burn it as slow as possible. Make sure you "create disc from image" using something like imgburn (free).
  9. When you find some DVDs that work can you let me know what they are please ? Presume they have to be dual layer DVDs ?
  10. Update on my SAILUN ATREZZO Z4 Still happy with the tyres. Only downside (as far as the wife is condcerned) is that they can be a bit skittish in the wet. You tend to get understear going round some corners if going a bit fast. Personally I like it as it makes driving such a big car fun, but the wife is not so keen
  11. Hi All, Firstly, a bit of background. I've had issues with my Columbus over the past 6 months, with performance getting steadily worse. First of all it would reset itself and reboot in German (or possibly Czech). Then progressively we lost Navigation in Maxidot Columbus functions from the steering wheel (track shift and volume) Preset Radio station (the 6 on the screen would show as "Empty") The list of available stations Finally, all sound from the radio, cd, sd, HDD and phone (at least the maps and navigation worked !!) So, with nothing much to loose, I thought I should try a firmware upgrade, as VCDS showed no errors. Here is the label from my Columbus (see attachment) Here is what VCDS said (before upgrade) Address 37: Navigation (J0506) Labels: 1T0-035-680.clb Part No SW: 3T0 035 680 HW: 3T0 035 680 Component: RNS-MID H50 1404 Revision: AB001001 Serial number: SKZ6Z7M7109105 Coding: 040004000004008300 Shop #: WSC 22013 576 178912 VCID: 6DD7F7F1B4EA8A49B59-8038 Address 56: Radio (J0506) Labels: 1T0-035-680.clb Part No SW: 3T0 035 680 HW: 3T0 035 680 Component: RNS-MID H50 1404 Revision: AB001001 Serial number: SKZ6Z7M7109105 Coding: 040004000004008300 Shop #: WSC 22013 576 178912 VCID: 6DD7F7F1B4EA8A49B59-8038 So, after much reading on here, (thanks to KBPhoto, Camberley_Chris, Adamal, Rustynuts and others) I upgraded to firmware 3980 specifically RNS_510_FW_3980_update. Now I have a fully functioning Columbus, except for no POIs I still have music on the HDD and Maps and now if I hold SYSTEM for 20 secs I get the extra info. The maps I have are 6317 (if I remember correctly) and I want to update to V10 at least. I have burnt a compressed V10 dowload onto a single layer DVD, but it did not install. So, my questions are Is my unit officially old? I presume I can upgrade to 4020 for older units. What about 4120? I presume I can't intall newer maps becasue my 30G HDD has not been repartitioned to 60/35/5 as I've still got maps and music? How do I get the "secret" menu to allow me to downgrade firmware (if I install 4120 and it all goes wrong)? Anyone got a version of V10, 11 or 12 maps I can borrow? Thanks in advance
  12. I have replied to a similar question a few months ago with all my notes - see if you can find it via my profile Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance tyres get a good write up and were my second choice, but I went for theses - 1822540WSAZ4ASXL - SAILUN ATREZZO Z4+AS 92W RF 225/40R18 £41.33 delivered £57 fitted They are a bit noisey (72db I believe) and I was a bit disappointed with the wet weather handing, but recently they seem fine in the wet and overall I am very happy with them - under £240 for 4 newtyres fitted !!! And they are Run Flats as well. Having said all that, the Sportmaxx as described above sound ok as well - I would do some more research on those as I've never heard of them before
  13. Hi Jon, As you might expect, in this section you are going to get lots of support for the Superb. And I'm no different !!! Go to your local dealer and have a drive in one, then see what you think. I would recommend the 170 CR Elegance. Quite simply the best car I've ever owned. If you have a look around, and have a bit of patience you will find what you are looking for. Mine has the addition of front parking sensors and park assist, so there are lots of comfort and toys. Good luck in your search.
  14. Hi All, We are having an issue with our Columbus unit in our Superb. A few months ago it reset itself - turned on the ignition and the lanuage in the Columbus defaulted to Czech (or German ?); definitely not English. I managed to change it back to English, but then noticed all the pre-set radio channels had gone, so I had to re-input them. More worryingly, the steering wheel controls to change radio channels and skip tracks on CD, HDD etc have stopped working and the Navigation part of the Maxidot also has stopped working, so I have to have the map REALLY zoomed in to see where I am going at junctions. I've put up with this for a couple of months now. I had a few changes made via VCDS (thanks therevjr) a few weeks ago and the Columbus and the steering wheel controls are communicating, just not working. Also tried a hard reset but no difference. In the last few days the Columbus now refuses to hold any pre-set radio stations, so we have to manually search for ones we want. We can store them, but when we turn the engine off, they all disappear. So, my question is, has anyone had this sort of issue before and is there a fix? I'm hoping an upgrade of the firmware will sort it out, but wanted to hear form others if this is a known issue. The car is a 59 reg Superb CR170. Columbus uniot is an older type (can't display the Hardware and Softwware versions). Thanks
