  1. Many many thanks to Pete and Lee and everyone else. I replaced the fuse and it has been ok since. I bought the pack from Halfords as recommended here. Kind regards Yogi
  2. Thanks. Yes, I bought this pack and replaced my blown 50A fuse . Fingers crossed - so far so good. But why did my old fuse blow. Was it wear and tear and or old age. Or should I investigate further? Kind regards Yogi
  3. Thanks The one on the right says 20 on it not 50
  4. Hi , How are you? Light came back and on close inspection, I noticed that the second fuse from the right hand side is split right from the middle. I am sure it's not meant to ?? Can you please confirm and if I need to replace it - what amp/volt I am looking for because there is nothing on it that I can read but the one next to it says 20v. Thanks . Please see the picture.
  5. You are very kind indeed. Much appreciated. Yogi
  6. Hi, thanks for replying. I watched a video on you tube where this guy checked those fuses above the battery and gave them a clean. I did the same and the light has gone for now and steering assist is back. I am not sure if that's a temporary fix or what ? But time will tell. Could you kindly send me a link for those cables on eBay etc. And link for the software? Kind regards Yogi
  7. Hello everyone, I have a 2007 MK1 1.9tdi pd estate. My power steering light is on and I have lost total steering assist. I have done following checks. Battery is showing healthy 14.3 volts when engine running on idle with headlights and stereo, heating on. There are no power steering fluid leaks. Power steering fluid reservoir is also full as it should be. Is there anyone local to me that could help me reading the error codes with a VCD. I have a feeling it's steering angle sensor. But want to be sure. Any advice or suggestions are most welcome. Thanks in advance. Yogi
  8. Hello everyone, I managed to change the ignition switch today - now its doing what it is supposed to. Thanks very much for all the help and suggestion. Kind regards Yogi
  9. I am going to try changing the switch itself tomorrow. I saw on a video that switch and key has to be on position 1. Getting the key to position 1 is easily done lol 😆 but how do I make sure that ignition switch is on position 1. Kind regards Yogi
  10. Hi guys, Just an update. I feel stupid now but the reason I was not able to undo those 2 torx screws because someone had changed them to t10 and I was trying t20 screwdriver - hence why it was not gripping it. Have a look.
  11. Hi Sepulchrave, I have sent you a pm. Thanks Yogi
  12. I can if I really have to but din't want to ideally. On the video that I saw on you tube - the guy manages to take out those 2 torx screws with ease. But I just cannot do it. Steering comes in the way. Forgot to mention- I have bohemia model, so the steering wheel is chunky version. I am in Kent. Thanks
  13. Anyone guys? I am really stuck - I just can't get the screwdriver to grip on to the screw due to the angle. Thanks Yogi
  14. Yes exactly that You have to rotate the white to the left and right to reveal them
  15. Hello guys, It's me again. I managed to get the part but I cannot undo the 2 torx screws underneath the steering wheel. What I am finding is that I can't get my long torx screwdriver to go in their straight as it's at an angle. I hope you understand what I am saying. I can't get it to any garage for at least another 2 weeks. Is there anyone in Kent who is willing to help me? Of course I will pay. Thank you in advance guys but I am very desperate. Yogi
  16. Thank you Wino. I just managed to buy a brand new genuine one off eBay. Am I right to assume - replacing the switch is plug and play - i.e. no programming etc required. Kind regards. Yogi
  17. Would anyone be kind enough to get me correct part number for ignition switch for my car. Kind regards Yogi
  18. Hi guys, I hope that someone can help me. So, this is what happened - I drove roughly 60 miles yesterday - mainly motorway and 10 miles of that A road. I made 1 stop and as i drove off - I heard loud (rattling sort of ) noise from the engine bay. I turned the car off to have a look and after that it will not switch on. There was no problem with fuel delivery, battery was fine i.e., when I turn the key to Acc, all the dash lights etc were coming on, but nothing when i turn the key to ignition. I managed to bump start it - that made me think - it must be the starter motor. So, I changed the starter motor and old starter motor was cooked. I am able to start the car but starter motor is not disengaging by itself. I am having to turn the key back ever so slightly for it to disengage - I hope that makes sense. So, what could it be? After browsing forums - I am thinking ignition switch. I have seen videos online on how to replace it. Would you say that is the right route to go down or am i supposed to take it to Skoda specialist garage? Any help will be greatly appreciated. As I don't want to burn new starter motor as well. Kind regards Yogi
  19. Thanks . While you had these on- did they end up scratching or hitting against any suspension part etc. Or any damage on suspension parts?
  20. Thanks I will look at my steel wheels et size
