  1. thats good to know it looks like it is just an interference fit on the splines so possibly stuck on!
  2. The radiator fan on my 1999 Feicia 1.3 (non AC) is fine but with it becoming harder to get spare parts I took the chance of buying a "new old stock" fan motor to keep as a spare. I noticed however that the aftermarket spares that are available come complete with fan attached to motor. So the question is, if I ever need to use this motor will it be easy to remove the fan from the old motor and attach to the new or will I meet problems.
  3. Alternator changed and sound gone, play in end bearing, beyond my technical ability to change but will keep as a spare.
  4. I know this is an old thead but I have Just been on long run through France and found same problem, has anyone come across the answer in the meantime?
  5. Thanks RicardoM, we have now listened with a screwdriver, which confirmed noise appears to be strongest by alternator though it is being picked up all over the engine! We then took the belt off and the noise disapeared. So hopefully it is the alternator (and not the water pump or crankshaft end bearing!) New alternator has been ordered. The price of these seems to vary a lot I would expect new to be dearer than remanufactured which in turn would be more than refurbished but that is not always the case and sometimes the descriptions are not clear as to what is being provided. Also it appears that there could be one of 3 different sizes fitted to this engine, thankfully we could decipher the one we have (443113516751 Magneton 55amp) and have found a claimed equivalent apprently new for a very good price, hope it is OK!
  6. Started last night, bit concerned as we are going on a 1000 mile trip next week, does anyone have any ideas what it is please. Doesnt seem to get louder if I rev car just stays same, no difference on dipping clutch, exhaust looks firm. Thanks for any help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzI1qcyX7DM&feature=youtu.be
  7. Just had someone go into the back of my (new shape) Felicia estate at a roundabout. Didnt have the handbrake on and was shunted forward about 5' with a loud bang but to my surprise when I got out there was no obvious damage other than the towing eye cover had popped off. On closer examination the sides of the bumper may be a few millimeters out of alignment and the centre of the rubber strip just a little dislodged/loose again only few mm nothing I would worry about. The other car was an old Polo or Golf similar height bumpers and also nothing obvious damage wise. The tailgate opens fine and there does not appear to be any movement in the boot floor. My question is could there be any hidden damage? Alignment? bumper internals or brackets etc What/how should I check or should I ask a bodyshop? Thanks
  8. Thanks guys, will come back to you when we have the door trim off (may be a few days!!)
  9. Went to unlock car, I think I may have turned key in wrong direction, heard a snapping noise and now key wont turn in lock at all. Its a "facelift" 1999 LX 1.3 i dont think it has central locking or at least if it does never worked for me. I can lock and unlock when the door is shut using the locking button but the key wont rotate in either direction, wont lock or unlock. Whilst I am puzzling out how to remove the trim I would like to buy any parts needed, especially if it needs a new lock barrel as I understand these have to be ordered in to match the key?? What are the team's views please on what part (s) are likely to need replacing please. I see there is a repair kit sold on ebay is this likely to be appropriate here? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-Felicia-door-lock-repair-kit-front-right-/141126956629?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20dbd27655
  10. I'm going to change the coolant on my newly aquired 1999 1.3 mpi felicia, Haynes says undo theplug on the pipe running across the engine - ok found that, then the plug on the block, cant see this anywhere, if I am reading it right should be just below the spark plugs on right side as you face the engine above an electrical connector, I can see the spark plugs and the elecrical connector but no sign of a plug. Am i looking in the right place ? did they miss this out on later cars? in which case which is the best way to ensure all drained. Thanks for any help.
