Hokey Cokey.
I know this is old but I thought I would update. Its sorted. Found another post on the site with very similar issues to mine and the two chaps it had happened both discovered the DMF had seized, and replacing it sorted it. I didn't tell the garage what the issue was, just dropped it off with a new clutch, dmf and slave cylinder. What a pain in the padded ass that was getting the right one. If you ever get this problem, and the place asks you whether it is the LSUK or the Sachs clutch, on mine it didn't matter, as I changed everything, mine switched from a sachs to an LSUK, and the set up came with different sized bolts(well it didn't but it was supposed to which just added to the confusion and is very important or it won't fit).
Garage couldn't believe it when they took it off and the dmf was seized, never came across one that had done that before, so an education for all concerned.
Gearbox is now working like a dream. Thanks to all for the suggestions and input it was greatly appreciated.
