  1. For anyone else with the same problem, part number seems to be 1K0 505 491 - currently £17.61
  2. Hoping someone can share the abs coding they have for a similar model (or a link to something that explains how the coding should be generated?) I'm struggling to code a replacement abs module - vcds just fails with an out of range message. VIN: TMBKF73T5E9011570 My original coding and the coding generated by vis4vag both get rejected. original: 863D6016092300FB611006EB90190092340000 vis4vag 843D6016092300FB211006EB90190042350000 Log file doesn't show an error - implies coding worked? 3. Thats a very good point - something else to look at anyway.
  4. I did think about it - but if it was that then I'd expect the speed sensors to be consistently giving odd results rather than both of them showing odd results at the same time . that implies connection issues to me.
  5. I've got a few questions re ABS problems - I've read a lot of threads here and elsewhere but still issues. I have a 2013 Superb Estate (facelift) 2.0tdi 170. Had warning lights come on around xmas and vcds said faild left rear wheel sensor. Replaced sensor and all good for 6 weeks and same error but rear right. OK replaced rear right sensor. Another week and the lights are back and vcds says both rear sensors. Had a look at live data and what seemed to happen was that they read ok most of the time then would both give a much lower reading. So all wheels showing 30 mph then suddenly the rears would show 5mph before going back up to 30 - no skids involved! Sensor connectors all seem ok. Reading around I wonder if this is the start of controller failure? I've read about the connectors not being soldered just push fit and thought maybe a vibration or pothole together with loose connection or corrosion is causing a problem? I cant find any supplier stocking the controller - several have it as out of stock. Bought a used unit from ebay (same part number and from a superb2) , but when I try to code it with the long coding from the original unit I just get an error (out of range). Then I read that I might need to program my vin into the unit before I can code it? I found vis4vag and see that they can generate a code - using my vin, plus controller part no 1k0 907 379 BL and controller ID :03. but they also want extra info - I have to select Vacuum sensor- no, vacuum sensor yes, type A or type 2 Anyone tell me what these 4 options mean and how I tell what I have? I've got all the seemingly usual errors about needing sensors calibrating, but I see conflicting info about whether it matters if I code the controller before calibrating or vv or doesn't matter. Anyone been through this and have suggestions?
  6. Anyone done this? My drivers seat bolster is collapsing and I like the mk3 seats. but I have a mk2...
  7. I'm just wondering about replacing the seats in my 63 plate estate. They're getting a little tatty and I thought it was worth asking if anyone has swapped out their seats? Current ones are heated/electric in the front. Any other options? thx
  8. Vag tool will work. I would clean the egr as a matter of course and also check stuff like engine mounts.
  9. Sorry this is coming weeks after your original question, so not really an urgent reply... You say this happened after hard rain? It used to be a big issue on lots of VAG cars that he 'comfort module' gets wet and causes problems with lights, immobiliser, windows, etc. lift the carpet in the passenger footwell and see if there are signs of water under the carpet and soundproofing. The comfort ecu is in the footwell and gets flooded when water overflows from the scuttle. Check for leaves/dirt etc in the scuttle and look at the drain holes (under the battery tray in some cars. if you need to replace the comfort module (CCM) then make sure to get the exactly correct version - there are variants and I dont know if they can be reprogrammed or actually need to be correct.
  10. How did it go? That did seem expensive
  11. I've just used a low power impact driver to do mine. Started with a 6point socket manually and found it not wanting to shift. Put the impact driver on just feathering the trigger and it released them all no problem. Obviously I wouldn't use a high power impact gun but the little cheapy impact driver was great.
  12. Could someone let me have a pic of the bonnet catch mechanism and latch please? Just had my car thumped and the bonnet now doesnt open. I can get at the lever under the bonnet but it isnt doing anything - I can see the catch through the gap but I'm not sure how it needs to move to release - can I prod it with a screwdriver? If so do I push it to my left? or back? or...?
  13. I can see from previous threads that I'm not the only one suffering discomfort with the superb seats. I've an elegance with leather and electric memory seats and it feels more like sitting on a hard bench than a comfy seat. Short trips are OK, but longer runs and my sit bones get very uncomfortable. Just wondered if people have tried other seats and if they are an easy swap? Audi A6? A8? L&K? superb 3? I expect the elecy memory stuff might be an issue?
  14. I'm after a set of 17" wheels for a superb 2 for winter tyres - do you have some? how much etc?
  15. Thanks for that doc. This is the first car I've ever had that doesn't have this info in the owners manual or on a sticker somewhere.
  16. I'm slightly upset that I put a full set of continentals on my wifes car earlier this month.
  17. Amazon have an exclusive deal for prime users on michelins eg 225/45/17 94W £66 <- note that I've overpaid, theres a code that gets another £3 per tyre off :( I've just signed up for a prime trial and ordered a set. Link and credit to : https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/michelin-crossclimate-xl-2254517-94w-all-season-tyre-6178-delivered-amazon-prime-exclusive-2799747
  18. Is stop start not standard on the superb? I ask because of stories of exploding batteries on stop start cars - not on skoda but on bmw. My last car was a 3 series with stop start and as a consequence an AGM battery. There were several stories on the bmw forums about people having problems - including exploding batteries - after replacing the original glass mat battery with a normal lead acid jobby. Again on the bmw, you have to code the new battery to the car - telling the fancy stop start system and alternator what the capacity of the battery is. People here seem to be just fitting a normal battery, is that because your cars are not stop/start? I guess with a 4 yr old superb I need to check my battery.
  19. Interesting, but what was missing was poor road surface testing. What people are usually looking for in the 'comfort' mode is more about the road surface than anything else. What I've found is that too big a profile can lead to a very bouncy ride, but the in vogue rubber band profiles have no compliance at all and lead to a very harsh ride and frequent damaged tyres/wheels. What might be interesting is some sort of assesment of the behaviour of the tyre when thought of as a poorly damped spring.
  20. Thanks. I'll get on to ross tech and see what I can do as an upgrade. I spoke to Gendan but my old one is apparently so early that it doesnt have a serial number and they cant quote.
  21. Don't know if you sorted this, but if you have regen issues check the basics: thermostats OK? glow plugs OK? EGR OK? Getting a regen to work depends on getting hte temperature up. I've seen it on other cars that regen fails when the thermostat or glow plugs are not working.
  22. Hi all. Just a quick question - whats the cheapest ross-tech interface I can get away with for use with a 2013 Superb and a new Kodiaq? Could I use a MicroCan? Or does it need to be one of the newer interfaces? Do they need K line as well as Can? I'd prefer not to have a limit on the number of cars which seems to be the way they've gone. I can see they have a trade in scheme but I'm not sure if its worth using on an old hex-usb by the time I've posted to them and possibly been hit with duty/vat on the new one. Any suggestions? thanks
