  1. I was thinking of coming back to Skoda. I've recently scrapped my Octavia 1 and exchanged my mk3 for a Volvo XC40 2 years ago.
  2. Thanks guys for your information much appreciated.
  3. Thanks 386ka, will have to check PFL or FL. So they have stuck a gasoline filter on the latest models, not Adblue or equivalent I hope. Want to get away from this motoring hence going away from diesel.
  4. Hi. Is your car DSG or manual gearbox.
  5. So the problem with some of the 1.5 tsi powered vehicles especially the manual gearbox model was a hesitation or misfire when moving off from standstill or a junction, commonly known as kangarooing. Has the VAG group sorted this problem out through software updates or other. Are there any issues with current mk4 models?. Regards
  6. After long relationships with diesel engined VW, Skoda and more recently Volvo. Considering buying 24 plate Octavia 1.5 tsi. Has the kangaroos issues been fixed on the manual version. Regards
  7. All not lost yet. I used to do most repairs myself. Depending on what needs doing to get my 2002 Octavia 1.9 tdi through the mot. A great mechanic locally who's very reasonable and clever could potentially save me spending £4k on the fabia. The Octavia is my run around 2nd vehicle which I treat like an old van. The cars done 192k on original exhaust and clutch.
  8. I've messaged last keeper for any bad issues with the car. Apologised for being cheeky but he can only tell me sod off.
  9. Think I came across this issue. Heard about few years ago when I had skodas. My last was a 18 plate Octavia 2lt tdi se l face-lift, fantastic car. Only problems the beam axle and cabin noise associated to it.
  10. I haven't any idea about the emissions fix. Why was it not the thing to do?
  11. It's a one owner car, a guy from Yorkshire.
  12. Yes just been doing that, lots advisories for worn tyres, steering ball joints. Car reg: MD64NJN..
  13. Went to see the car this morning without an appointment. I was given the keys and had a look round it. Obviously had not been started. Which it did without issue. Couldn't fault anything, everything worked and immaculate inside and out. I take on board the injector problem and no evidence of a timing belt change in the somewhat sketchy service record. I didn't have a test drive at this stage. Autotrader gives it a fair price mark. £3995. Thanks for the info guys
  14. Looking at Fabia 2 1.6tdi 85k. Apart from the usual dpf problems diesels have are there any standout problems I should look out for. Regards
  15. Hi Rooted. I've been a diesel fan for years and have always bought low mileage second hand cars. I won't be going anywhere near electrification of any kind as long as I can help it. I guess I must take a closer look at the MK4 and drive one for myself given the recommendations of Southern comfort. What are these Dsg boxes like now, always seemed to hear horror stories, that's why all my vag car's were manual until the Volvo which is auto and very nice. Thanks guys. I am in UK.
  16. I jumped the boat last year and got a Volvo XC40 D4 AWD, great drive and quality but I had to pay a lot of money on top of what I got for my Octy MK3 18 plate sel 2.0 TDI, again great service and no problems. Thinking of coming back to Skoda Octavia MK4 but 1.4tsi. Is it a improvement on the MK3........ what's the cabin noise like and is it still beam back axle. Even though the Volvo's very nice things are starting to happen with the adblue system playing up and can see it's going to be very costly maintenance wise when warranty expires. Are you guys happy with the MK4 or would you advise me otherwise.
  17. Think I'll live with it. Car is just a cheap work horse now, has served me well. Doubtful that no other car will last me this long. Thanks fellas for all your info. Cheers
  18. What's this cycling procedure..... Nothing too risky?
  19. Makes interesting reading....... Mr muscle thread but my 21 year old car and having 190k on the clock the egr manifold bolts just resemble corroded lumps of rust wouldn't like to risk trying to undo them.
  20. My 110 Tdi sometimes under acceleration noticeably looses power and continues until I stop and switch off ignition and back on again. A guy read the codes for me and came up with these: 17965 boost pressure 17563 intake manifold pressure sensor 17973 immobiliser Is the problem a easy fix. I don't want to spend mega money as the car isn't worth a great deal obviously.
  21. My Octavia 18 plate 2ltr tdi SEL has gone. A trouble free car, just a battery change under warranty and the last service a blocked rear washer jet. If anyone's after this model cant go wrong, 29K FDSH.
  22. Exactly the same as mine. Skoda know about this problem and from the bag initially being dropped in the bottle this was there next attempt. One good thing the bags I've seen do look relatively strong
  23. Replacement bottle arrived today. 10 minutes to change. Can just make out the shape of the silikat bag and pink colour. It's not loose and doesn't slosh about, if you weren't looking for it you'd never guess.
  24. Got to say from the video of the cut in half bottle that the bags strength looks substantial. As long as reports about using a bottle with no bag and switching to G12 Evo coolant haven't thrown up any problems I will be taking this option. My opinion, if this bag does rupture a bill for replacing the heater matrix will be very expensive. The manufacturer will not say there is a problem here but have thought it necessary to upgrade bottles to keep this bag in the system and prevent major engine corrosion.
  25. Hells bells, so the bag is not accessible from the filler cap. Will see about getting a replacement I think. Thanks Enter
