  1. Although the car has done 28k miles it is coming up to 5 years old and Skoda dealer recommended cambelt and water pump change. Be interesting to see if they put what kind of coolant they use
  2. Checked bottle again definitely no bag, although says G13 mit silikat. Think mine is a revised bottle, small tube running vertical could be the silikat reservoir.
  3. Pretty sure there isn't an actual bag in mine, some variations of the bottle held the silicat in a pocket or between double skin bottle. I haven't been on Briskoda for about 2 years and this topic was Hot! If people have replaced the bottle without any sort of silicat being present and have not encountered problems could they let me know. There are so many after market bottles on the market, they don't say if silicat is added.
  4. I have a 2ltr tdi 18 plate with mit silicat on expansion bottle. Cant find bag in reservoir guess it may be different type. Coolant is as it should be, colour/clarity and no heater issues. What are you guys recommending , do I change the bottle without any silicat additive in, or leave as it is. Recently had a major service by main dealer and when asked about this was told there is no recall on this issue so they have no reason to recommend it being changed it is my decision. regards
  5. Hi Guys, not been active on the site for a while. Just had my yearly service done ,18 plate 2lt tdi. this was a major service at 28K . Cost : £355 all filters plus rear washer jet and key battery. I was informed although the low mileage, the 5 year anniversary was approaching and the cambelt and water pump would need replacing, Cost: £ 700. thought this was a bit steep, should I go elsewhere. 6. Hi Simon thanks for the reply. As I said fixed the phone issue by deleting it and then install again. This afternoon I have plugged the mobile in and Android auto starts, put my destination in Google maps and start off, again no audio instructions. Pulled in and found in settings on Google maps that audio was muted!. That was the problem but no one else has driven the car and I've not changed anything. How I wonder did it happen?
  7. Well have been trying to resolve this problem since posting and have got the phone working by deleting and restoring the phone to the infotainment system.
  8. Hi guys. Just lately problems with phone connecting to infotainment and has now developed into total loss of audio direction while navigating on Android auto. Also my phone which connects to the car has stopped receiving / making calls. Phone will select and try to make the call, but I don't hear the bur, bur ringing sound through the loudspeaker. Audio is ok when using media and radio. Regards
  9. Hi guys Been quoted £540 to fit a tow bar with a dedicated Skoda approved wiring kit to my MK3 Octavia by Towbars Wales, Crickhowell. Guy has a good reputation. Is there anything I need to ask him before letting him do the job, IE, will it be programmed to the car and how will it affect reversing sensors etc. I just don't want it having to go into the dealer after having job done. Cheers
