  1. They do not steer. They have additional bulbs for cornering lights they do have left and right hand traffic modes
  2. When I got my car I noticed a new setting that wasn't on my 14 plate Octavia Elegance. In the A/C settings there is 'Automatic Supplementary Heater'. I was surprised to see this because I've not seen any info about it before, other than Auxiliary Heating, which is different. Well, now the cold weather is here, I've noticed just how good it is. My 2014 2.0l TDI O3 took forever to warm up during the winter, whereas my new '67 2.0l TDI SE-L takes about 30 seconds before it starts blowing warm air. Its so much better, cant believe its not mentioned in more places (or anywhere for that matter - its not even in the manual!).
  3. Not sure how other FL headlights work, but the Full LED headlights on the SE-L have cornerning function, although its not as obvious as pre-FL xenons or a fog light turning on or off. There is a small extra LED bulb that turns on, within the dipped headlight housing. Very hard to see the actual LED but it is there and if you look carefully, you can see the edge of the dipped beam get brighter at slower speed and when cornering (30mph ish)
  4. What kind of headlights do you have? LED, Xenon or halogen? My new SE-L has LED which you can see slightly brighten at the edges when cornering up to around 40mph (although if you are sitting at say 30mph for a short while, the 'cornering lights' come on anyway to widen the light output for seeing footpaths etc better) My old Elegance with Xenons would physically move (and did a 'dance' when first turned on' up down, and left right). This you could see moving if you gently swerve left to right when your driving relatively slowly It will only move when you are driving as well, not when you are sat still (i believe) If you want to keep driving ECO styley, just use the 'Individual' setting and set what you want to ECO and set cornering lights to Normal or Sport
  5. If you have Front Assist, there are a few ways to tell that it is there. There will be an option on the same screen as Lane Assist (if you have that). If you press the 'Driver Assists' button on the steering wheel (Lane assist icon, even if you dont have lane assist) (Face lift version), it will give you the option to turn Front Assist on/off. If you turn Traction Control off, it will display a message 'Front Assist Unavailable', and if you start getting close to the car in front on a motorway (like 1.5seconds behind, not like right up their arse) the mileage/cruise control display in the bottom left of the instrument screen will be replaced with an icon of two cars getting close. AND, if an empty bag of crisps blows across the road in front of you, you best best be wearing your seatbelt as you will be headbutting the steering wheel!
  6. I believe it is likely to be for the 'Service Due' message. I have had this many times on my car when it is due a service, although I have the Columbus system and that tells you the issue. The steering wheel DOES show like when the service is due There is two buttons on the left of the screen which you have cut off the picture. One will be the 'Start-Stop' status, and i think the other should be the message regarding the 'fault' (if memory serves). Other method is using display between your speedo and rev counter, go to 'Vehicle' and that will tell you whats up
  7. ah, advances in technology... I assume it'll still work with the humidity sensor, so if you have the temp set high, but its as humid as a sauna, the AC will kick in to dehumidify. Plus, there'll still be a compressor to make the whinning or buzzing when it is working
  8. ive had the light unit out, justlots of pulling and bending - not something i'd do again without 'needing' to though. As i mentioned before tho, if its about the LED's, they are soldered onto a circuit board, and not a plug that can be disconnected. The LEDs are on long 'legs' that could be cut, but its a bit of a permenant way of disabling though
  9. at very low temperatures - below 6 degrees, (maybe 4 ??) the AC is not used, even if the light is on. I'm fairly sure it say in the driver manual, but dont remeber for sure. At temperatures above that, it will be used. Even if you set the internal temp to 28 degrees, and its 10 degrees outside, A/C will still be on, if the light is on. There are occasions when the AC is on or off, when you ask it to be the opposite, not sure why, but generally only at a time when it shouldnt be noticable. As for the noise, bare in mind, it is a compressor, like a fridge uses, and its on a clutch mechanism for turning on and off. this may well make a whining or buzzing noise. cant say i noticed it on mine, but i've not often been out of my car when its running, and probably wouldnt think too much of it if i had heard it. And for the pressure releasing noises, the AC does work under pressure - well half of the system is pressurised, which is how it works - so it could be the pressure equalising once the system is turned off. I'll have to wait until we have a nice day over here to see what my car does / sounds like
  10. happened a couple of times with mine. i think, if only one or 2 gps satellites are found straight away, it doesnt get your exact location, and thinks your somewhere else, usually abroad. by the time you notice whats going on, its found another satillite and knows where you are - in a 'different' country, and so shows the speed limits. My Tomtom i used to use used to take sometimes a couple of minutes to find satelites and would default to London, then bounce me about until it could 'triangulate' my position. I guess this is what Skoda is doing

  12. A system is available so you can use the OEM screen to display external video sources - camera, xbox, whatever - but its somwhat pricey - about nearly 400 quid if i remember correctly
  13. it is belt driven, but its on a clutch, so it can be switched on and off. Theoretically it could also have an electric motor powering the compressor, as in domestic AC systems, but the chances of solar power being able to power it are somewhat slim in my opinion. In fairness, blowing fresh air into the car, and circulating the air in the car will be effective enough at stopping the interior getting scortching hot in direct sunlight, without the need for Air con.
  14. Also funny that Andy205 said the same thing, while i was typing mine. Anyway, because I left the back half un-cleaned (out of lazyness), at least in my car, I know that was the problem. On start-up, I do get a bit of misting along the bottom of the windscreen from the AC, but it clears quickly. Much better than it was
