  1. Just a quick note to say "Thanks" to the many forum members who gave advice and assistance when asked - a friendly knowledgeable bunch, and I have appreciated being navigated through various niggles and enhancements. I drove my 1.6 TDI Spaceback Elegance for 30K+ miles and it behaved really well, gave excellent fuel economy and has been a 100% reliable car. Previous to that, another 70K+ in a 2.0 TDI Octavia, so have spent the last 100K+ in a Skoda. Before moving to Skoda I drove a number of Suzukis, mostly 4x4s, and my wife has been running a Swift for the last 3 years and my daughter an Alto (both very good small cars). I have just picked up a new Vitara, and first impressions are excellent. Will miss the forum, but maybe back in the future - Who knows? Good luck to all, NigNB
  2. If interested, please PM me. Thanks, NigNB

  4. Thanks RMurphy195, that's a really useful suggestion.... good idea and it'll keep me busy this weekend!
  5. Really happy with mine, now up to 26,000 miles, and not had any signiifcant issues. The Cambridge Vindis Skoda dealership looks after me well, as they did for my Octavia before. The car easily tows our Eriba Puck caravan, comfortably covers daily 25 mile motorway commuting, and the extra legroom in the back is much appreciated by rear passengers. Flexible boot and split rear seat handles most eventualities, and our Jack Russell has a permanent basket. Cheap to insure, service, tax and great fuel economy. All in all, one of the better cars I've owned. I have only one issue really - what's happening about the diesel engine upgrade (all gone a bit quiet from my side). Hope others have had good experiences, and I've found the forum really helpful (thanks Chris et al). Thanks...
  6. Having double-checked the bulb, and other lights I looked into the fuses. Seems that the same fuse that protects some of the rear lights also protects part of the tow electrics and I had managed to blow the fuse when I plugged in my Eriba Puck caravan. Doh! Replaced fuse and tow electrics and rear fogs all working ok now. Interestingly, this fuse also stopped the offside caravan lights working (nearside were fine). As if anyone needs reminding, don't forget to check the simple things first....
  7. Thanks all, have definitely got a problem as no rear fog lights working. The bulb warning light hasn't come on, so I'll get the car into the local Skoda dealer asap.
  8. Have I gone mad, or is something not quite correct? When I pull out the light switch to the first notch, the front fogs come on and a symbol lights up on the dash...... When I pull it out to the second notch, no symbol for the rear fog lights? Is there a symbol?, what might have happened? Thanks guys,
  9. Many apologies to those following this thread, but I finally got around to getting on with it today. I followed Chris's advice using an old credit card to carefully lever out the boot light fitting (good idea, ta). The fitting comes apart quite easily, but take care if you're not familiar with it. The bulb was not sitting correctly in the actual holder, and was simply and quickly re-seated. I popped a meter on the terminals and all ok (another good idea, ta RickTT). I suspect it could vibrate loose again at some stage in the future, but for now a straight forward and successful repair. Thanks for the advice guys, all working properly now.
  10. Thanks Chris, finally have a nice day to clear out my boot and have a good poke around. Have an old credit card waiting to assist... Will post if I find anything interesting
  11. My Spaceback has a niggling intermittent fault - when I open the hatchback the interior light (on the left) doesn't come on. If I gently tap it, it does comes on - clearly a connection fault? But how does the light fitting come out please? Thanks.
  12. Does anyone remember the Top Gear episode when Clarkson held a remote against his head to demonstrate how it dramatically increases the range? It does work, but heaven knows what it is going inside your brain.... any ideas? Not sure, don't believe it - just try it;)
