  1. Well I'm more than a month into my Skoda experience and I'm loving every minute of it! The car hasn't missed a beat and coupled with the nice roads round here it makes me smile. Anyhow, other than a good clean and polish I haven't found the need to do anything else other than check vital fluids etc however I now need a Bluetooth car kit for my phone. I've decided on the Fiscon Basic Plus as you guys seem to rate it and there are some good fitting guides available on the forum too. Having gone to the Kufatec website and clicked on the following kit http://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/en/fiscon-bluetooth-solution/fiscon-bluetooth-handsfree-basic-plus-vw-skoda it doesn't seem to be available to order. Rather than me attempting to make contact with these guys I wondered if anyone knew whether the kit was just out of stock or whether it had been discontinued and replaced with something else. I've left it a bit late for Crimbo but I'm not in a mad rush to get the kit but it would be nice to have it to fit early in the new year. Another question too, I'm running a 10 plate FL VRS Octy with a Bolero headunit and maxidot, am I right in thinking it should just be a plug and play situation or might I need to bribe someone with tea and biscuits to code it to work with the maxidot? Any help would be very useful, and have a great Crimbo! :sun: Cheers TIm
  2. It was and still is a common fault with the mk4 golfs ( been there!) but it is usually a tailgate area issue which is why this particular leakage made me smile. Why the pipe isn't run under the vehicle I'll never know. Putting it through the dash with all the related electricals seems like such a stupid thing to do. Hey ho I'll timgineer a solution tomorrow!
  3. I had thought of this but need to see how it is routed into the tailgate so I can work out where to splice into it which wasn't a job for a rainy Sunday. More of a job for Monday morning in the shed at work ;-)
  4. Afternoon All, I'm two weeks into my Octavia ownership and I'm chuffed to bits with it, it goes like a stabbed rat when you ask it to, looks stealth, costs less than the competition and makes me smile every time I get into it and discover something new. I hadn't expected that the car would try and wash me as well though, that was a bit of a surprise. Merrily trundling along today and decided that the rear screen needed a wash so prodded the stalk to make it happen which eventually it did. However during the process I noticed that my left foot was getting wet which was interesting. It seems that the pipe must have sprung a leak somewhere on it's routing through the car causing it to leak into the drivers footwell just by the footrest nearest the centre console. Has anyone else suffered from "wet foot" I feel I should address the problem before it develops into trench foot, also I don't want a wet car! As I see it I have two options, 1. Rip the dash to bits to find the pipe and replace 2. Unplug the pipe at the washer bottle end and don't use the rear wash wipe, thus eliminating any water ingress. Please can I have some opinions. Cheers Tim
  5. Ha ha, love it, I have just collected my 10 plate vrs today and thought this was something the dealer had left in there by mistake. My ticket holder is currently sporting a poppy!
  6. No more dilemma! I took a trip up to Simpsons in Colne today and drove back in my new (10plate) vrs estate. Two observations on my first journey in the bus. 1 it goes like a stabbed rat. 2 the speedo needle goes quite far round the speedo. Well impressed with the service from Steve @ Simpsons and very impressed with the car itself. Smiles all round!
  7. Rob_e I have read your blogs on both new and "old" cars and I like what you've done to both cars. If I can achieve half your mods I'd be a happy bunny!
  8. Hi Guys, Thanks very much for answering my question, I am going to take a look at two on Thursday, both estates, both 2010, both around 30k miles, one petrol manual and one diesel DSG. The odds are currently stacked in the petrol cars favour but we'll see! I've read a load of reviews on the cars and I think the comment about the sound insulation is the one that got me most of all. However I'm coming out of a VW Caddy with no bulkhead or sound deadening in the back so I don't think it will be too much of an issue! I'll keep you all posted. cheers Tim
  9. Thanks for the reply LGM, I know there is a DSG box available on both the petrol and the diesel but have not really looked into it as an option. Is it worth a look or should it be avoided?
  10. Morning all, This is my first post here so I'll give you a bit of background. A bought a nice 57 plate VW Caddy a year ago and a week later the wife told me she was pregnant, great news but not ideal transport. Apparently strapping the pram in the back of the Caddy isn't going to happen! So here we are and Jnr is now 17 weeks old, I've bought the wife a "nice" Citroen Nemo multispace for trundling about in and she loves it. I now need to find myself something to drive which has led me to this forum. Having had an Impreza (great fun but juicy and not very big) and a couple of other sporty cars I would hate to find myself in something dull a dreary for the next 5 years. Having looked about the place and always liking the Skoda VRS I started to look at newish ones for about £12k which is the budget. I spend a lot of time trundling about the lanes of North Wales but do make 20 - 30 longer journeys to other parts of the country. I'm currently confused about which model to go for. Do I go Diesel or Petrol? I'm set on a manual box but don't know whether the potential DMF and DPF issues down the line might make the petrol option a better and simpler option. Please could I have some advice from those in the know. Apologies for rambling on a bit
