[Dashcam - Which Fuse]

One word of caution during the install, my car shuts off some fuses even with the ignition on, after a short while (5-10mins). It really threw me as I thought the fuse was faulty, so just trust the advice about which to use and test it after with a complete power down and restart (lock, walk away, come back 15 mins later and see what happens).

I’m using Costco’s standard 95-RON, which has cleaning additives and is significantly cheaper than most other petrol stations, and I’m averaging 35MPG. 40MPG is doable on a run, and 30MPG when my foot feels heavier, but just going with the flow in traffic results in 35MPG.

It’s a long drive, but Huets  in Shoreham did a great job of sound deadening a Leon I used to own. They’ve done quite a few things for me and their work is top notch.

You refuel. It’s automatic, based on the last refuel. 
 

Long Term and Since Start can be reset manually; Long Term is best if you want to track MPG over a time of your choosing.

Any diamond cut wheels will get white worm eventually, it’s a matter of when, not if, and it tends to happen even if you never kerb them. You can have them re-cut a few times but not endlessly so the finish has a natural shelf life IMO. 
 

I once had some Golf GTi wheels re-cut and the guy who did it swore blind that not applying lacquer and using good wheel wax regularly would be better. It never really sat well with me, but it’s worth thinking about.

Thanks both, that’s what I assumed but the link to VW ones made me hope I was wrong. There’s an abundance of choice for VW and Audi’s but much less for the Superb.

I have the same engine in a Passat Estate, our family shed, and no amount of change with OBDEleven gave the same effect as an engine and DSG remap. 

My motivation for a remap was exactly the same. The power and torque benefits were an added bonus, as was the MPG benefit!

On the Superb (220 Sportline) the OBDEleven change was sufficient, so I’m holding off a remap (for now, it won’t last).

Can anybody recommend some protective covers for the back of the front seats, which fit the Sportline seats? Parents will know the struggle of having kids kick the back of the seat, and there are 101 options out there but they all assume you have 'normal' headrests. The Sportline seats don't, so I'm struggling to find a rear kick protector that fits.

 

Has anybody found such a thing? I think protectors with an elastic fastener at the top rather than a buckle could work at a push.

 

Recommendations would be appreciated.

They're Invovic El601's... the first time I ever heard of the brand was seeing them on this car. All pressures OK and TPMS is fine. They're just a bit sh**.

We picked the car up yesterday and it was a fairly simple transaction, and we took it there and then. The budget tyres on it are rated as being bang-average in the dry and crap in the wet, so we have a window of opportunity to find the right tyres before the weather turns.

It’s a good shout, but as we only have a single set of wheels I’d be more in favour of all-seasons, especially as truly horrendous weather in the South of England isn’t common.

We bought it! It’s in cracking condition, aside from a few stone chips on the front bumper it’s really hard to pick fault. The interior was spotless. 
 

And, of course, it swallowed our pushchair with ease! We didn’t realise it had the under-floor storage as well (no spare wheel) so that and the side pockets mean the storage is vast.

It's a great point, we had CrossClimates on a previous car so I should really add them to the list. It's a significant cost increase though, so if something like the Uniroyal worked well on the Superb and is £50+ a wheel cheaper, it stops the decision being a no-brainer. On the previous car we had them on, they were more or less than same price as all other options, but there's something about this tyre size that has made the range of prices much wider.

What tyres do Superb MK3 owners recommend? Specifically if possible, on 19" alloys (235/40/19 Vega's)?

 

We're about to buy a Sportline 220 Superb MK3 and the selling dealer is proudly saying they've replaced all four tyres... but they're horrid budget nonsense that need to be removed straight away. The car will primarily be a family car so we don't need top-end performance tyres, but wet grip and all-weather braking performance are important.

 

Current contenders are the Uniroyal RainSport 5, Bridgestone RE050A, Dunlop Sport Maxx RT, and possibly the Michelin PS4 but these may be OTT given the price increase.

 

I've had good results with the Bridgestone and Dunlops on other cars, and my Mrs (who'll primarily be driving the Superb) has always like Rainsports. How well do these work on the Superb? Or, are there better options at this sort of quality and price range?

 You went for the language pedant approach, and I was trying not to make a 'said the nun to the bishop' joke! Still, the point was clear, and it is odd that we talk about width, height, and depth and then switch to how long something is.

 

Surely though the need for an even longer deeper boot in the Superb must be for fairly niche load carrying requirements?

How fast things move... we've just put a deposit down on a 17-plate Sportline hatch, the 220bhp version (same engine I had in my previous car, a Mk7.5 Golf GTi, I presume?). All being well it will be bought and driven home next Wednesday. We'll take our kid-crap down, load it up, have a drive and hopefully take it home there and then.

 

It's a nice spec, white, 19" alloys, rear view camera, power tailgate, road sign display, CarPlay / Android Auto, all good stuff.

If we could afford a Sportline estate with the options we want it would be a no-brainier as they do look great… but everything is a compromise at the end of the day.

I love the fact a large armchair being just too big for the hatch was the tipping point  How many saloons or hatchbacks could you consider using for that?!

 

That point does resonate though, it’s inevitable that a day like that will come if we don’t get an estate. It’s why this is so tough. The estates are just a touch more expensive like-for-like which is a real bugger, so it feels like we’re choosing between an SE L Exec estate or a Sportline hatch with a couple of options ticked (power tailgate or Canton, it seems). Argh!

We think we’ve found a dealer not too far away that has an estate and hatchback in stock in roughly the price range we’re looking for, so hopefully we can take all our kid-crap down there and load them both up!
