  1. It's not a Skoda.  I know.  It's a Skoda Forum.  But it might be just what someone is looking for.

    - Suzuki Swift 1.3Ddis, silver, 2009 59 plate

    - 2 owners including my lovely wife.
    - 54,700 miles. That's not even a quarter of the way to the moon.
    - FSH (book not stamped for some of this but receipts provided for work)
    - Still on winter tyres on the front but 2 standard tyres thrown in. Or at you if you try to reduce your price on the day.
    - Glow plugs replaced under warranty in 2012.  Thanks Mr Suzuki for that free work.
    - Minor RTA damage to rear bumper, repaired. You can blame a silly Dutchman for this, he was too busy sniffing tulips rather than concentrating on the daft red lanes on the M66/M62 junction
    - usual stone chips that you would expect on a 5yr old car
    - I guess you could describe it as "nippy".  And that doesn't mean it's supplied with a 5yr old child who will pinch your arm.
    - SWMBO drives too many miles now, otherwise we'd keep it
    - Keyless entry, A/C, metallic paint, front fogs, heated mirrors, just clayed and waxed, seats washed today
    - MOT valid til 01/10/2014, Tax til 30/09/2014

    A snip at £4,800. Please PM me for further info.

  2. The obligation in on the prosecution to show that they served the NIP within 14 days of the offence at the last known address, served on the offender or the registered keeper of the vehicle.

    Basically yours is a technicality that you'll have to attend court with a good solicitor to wriggle your way out of.  It all depends on when you bought your car I guess.  But a problem at the DVLA does not preclude a prosecution.  It'll cost you way more to attempt to get out of it than the cost of the fine.

  3. The council technically require a complaint to be made before investigating. Unless they decide they want to shaft you, in which case they will forge a complaint in the name of a fictitious person who lives at a fictitious address and then come round and investigate.  They'll then forge a planning application in your name, then refuse to produce it for over 2 years despite being fined for refusing to.  After an investigation by the planning inspectorate, they'll then defer to the home secretary, who'll just say "Yes several people appear to have committed serious criminal offences, so what".  Not speaking from experience then...........

    You do need planning permission for certain types of CCTV, but I wouldn't bother getting it because your local council most likely installs CCTV without permission.  Going from memory there were less than 10 planning applications for CCTV in the whole of england in 2011. The fact that it doesn't have planning permission has no bearing on whether any evidence gathered would be admissable at court ie it's still admissable.

    Planning permission for CCTV cameras is now only required where:
    • the building upon which the camera would be installed, altered or replaced is a listed building or scheduled monument;
    • the camera including its housing is larger than 75 centimetres by 25 centimetres by 25 centimetres;
    • any part of the camera would be less than 250 centimetres above ground when installed, altered or replaced;
    • any part of the camera would, when installed, altered or replaced,project from the surface of the building by more than one metre. The measurement is taken between the face of the building andthe maximum projection of the installation and applies to new cameras as well as the alteration to, or replacement of, an existing camera
    • any equipment that forms part of a camera installation would be located more than one metre away from the camera itself;
    • any part of a camera would be less than ten metres from any part of another camera on the same building;
    • where there would be more than four cameras on the same side of the building;
    • where there would be more a total of more than sixteen cameras on the same building.
    • Listed building consent will be required where proposed equipment would affect the character of a building listed for special architectural or historic interest and may be required as well as planning permission.
  4. Well this won't take long.....

    Courtesy car provided whilst mine was in for some work. Can't say too much about it because it broke down 100yds up the road.  In that short time I had concluded that almost every piece of trim rattled.

    Not good from a 12 plate car is it?

  5. If memory serves you're based in Rochdale.  Have a look at www.expolicecar.co.uk, based in sowerby.  You'll get something there that will have been serviced every 6,000 miles.  They've just sold a Mondeo ST TDCI DIESEL ESTATE on a 56 plate with mega miles for less than 3 grand.

    Or here http://www.expolicecarsdirect.co.uk/home.aspx

    For that kind of cash you'll be looking at something with a fair few miles on, if you ignore the patrol cars (fords and vauxhalls mainly) everything else should be well maintained and not trashed.

  6. My V70 estate is up for sale. It's an 05 plate with 78,000 miles. Taxed until May 2013, MOT til Nov 2013 and no finance. Recently serviced and all 4 wheels just refurbished. It's the 170bhp version and there is 1 previous owner. Please PM me if you are interested I have other pictures.

  7. I've got an Exeo saloon. imho the interior and overall build quality is miles better than the Octavia, there is no comparison and that's why I bought an Exeo. It is after an old A4 with a Seat badge.

    HOWEVER before I get some righteous stick for saying that on Brisky....the market does not seem to agree with me. Exeos are hard to sell. I tried to sell mine a while back and there was no interest at all. ALL, REPEAT ALL the Seat dealers I took it to refused to take it in part exchange on the basis that they didn't want another one clogging up the forecourt and they were brutally honest about this.

    I will be helpful and tell you I paid £11,700 for a 12 month old 143s saloon with 2,800 miles on it. I've had it remapped and it's a much better drive now. You will get a 12 plate 143 estate for less than 15 grand because people are not queueing up to buy them.

    I have seen a 130,000 mile 09 plate for £3,299. Don't expect much when you come to sell if you do a lot of miles. But if they are so cheap to start with, what's not to like?

  8. UK Public spending in 2010 = £669.8 billion, welfare spending = £110.9 billion of that, debt interest = £30.4 billion, Unemployed in August = 2,484,000

    UK Public spending in 2012 = £694.5 billion, welfare spending = £116.1 billion of that, debt interest = £47.2 billion, Unemployed in August = 2,592,000

    The papers and the politicians are conning you all. Spending is going up, it's not being cut. Problem is most of the increase is going on interest and welfare payments.

  9. http://www.brianmac.co.uk/index.htm I find this is a good site for fitness stuff, lots of old school stuff. Have you tried to bleep test (Multi stage fitness test) -> http://www.beeptestacademy.com/beep-test-download/

    The level was 8.1 when I joined, but you had to keep going til you dropped, I managed 14.1 and recently did 12.1 (but felt like I was going to die afterwards). This is excellent for improving fitness levels.

  10. Yes head gasket is a problem if not fitted correctly. Inlet manifold gasket also has tendency to split and leak, there is a new replacement part which is made of thicker plastic that solves the problem. Parts are plentiful and cheap.

    apologies for link to another forum. I've had 4 Rovers, they've all done sterling service and never had any problems as they were well maintained. First one I put 126,000 miles on in my early 20's, latterly the daughter had one which I sold through here earlier in the year. I'm thinking of getting a 1.8vvc hatch for tinkering with. I think the K series should all be 105bhp? If not you can fit a larger throttle body to increase from 85 to 105bhp.

  11. The diesels are 120, 143 and 170bhp. I've got a 143 S which I've remapped to 181bhp and 289lb/ft. The 170 has bigger brakes and a different suspension set up I think. tbh I can't believe more people aren't buying them, they are just so cheap and expect a chunk off the screen price. 9 grand will put you in a 10 plate 2.0tdi 143 estate. I paid less than 50% of list price at 12 months old with 2,800 miles on it.

  12. We have 8.4% of the uk population, contribute 9.6% of the tax revenue and receive 9.3% of government spend

    Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2

    Your figures appear to a teensy little bit wrong. Here are some figures taken from the Government in Scotland's website (and the Treasury), where it states for 2010/201

    - Scottish tax revenues (including Scotland's geographical share of North Sea oil tax revenues) =

    £53.128 billion (9.6% of UK total)

    - Scottish Public spending = £63.838 billion (10.1% of UK total)

    Therefore Scotland ran a fiscal deficit of £10.7 billion, or 20.1%.

    In simple terms this mean every year:

    - Taxes per person in Scotland = £10,110

    - Spending per person in Scotland = £12,148

    Still think England doesn't support Scotland?
