1.4 TSI safe and economical RPM range
leginegdoh replied to anstj's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
As above I had the 7 speed dsg which would happily do 30mph in 6th and 40mph in 7th,good economy as well 45plus to a gallon. -
OV62DKF was on the dealers website Friday afternoon sold/reserved Saturday morning! In the 3 and a half years of ownership its retail value dropped £500!

Tomorrow is a sad day as I say farewell to my lovely Octavia. It has been traded in for a larger car,a CR V. I wanted a younger model but there was nothing out there at the time but I plan to stay on here giving advice to anyone with a Mk2 FL or Roomster my previous car. So OV62DKF will be out up for grabs,it has served me well and been totally reliable apart from the water pump failing a week before I sold it!

Which engines to avoid and how to detect them?
leginegdoh replied to Giff's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I have a 62 plate estate with the 1.4 engine mated to the 7 speed dsg box. Car has done over 60k with myself putting around 20k miles on it and the only problem I've had is to put a new water pump on it,tomorrow in fact. No oil or coolant loss excellent mpg, over 42 mpg, since I've had it. A really great drive even fully loaded with 4 passengers. -
I have a rattling noise coming from the drivers side of my engine which I think is coming from the water pump. Engine is the 1.4 petrol on a 62 plate Octavia. The low level water/temperature warning light came on and I've lost about 250ml of coolant so it maybe leaking from the pump. Any way any one know how difficult or easy it is to replace the pump or is the rattle some thing else? Thanks.

1.4 TSI engine , Experiences and problems... ?
leginegdoh replied to 2stroke's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Currently run a 62 plate Octavia estate with 61000 on the clock. Had the car 3 years now and no problems what so ever with the engine.I have always serviced it at the mot and it has never needed extra oil or water. Returns high 40s mpg on a run,low 40s loaded up all with the 7 speed dsg. -
What tool to remove security bolt on wheel?
leginegdoh replied to Aj77's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I find if you get a tyre replaced the garage will use their own sockets for the security bolt. -
No unless you have been trained on it. Loads of non dealer garages can do re gases plus places like Kwik Fit just be careful as some places will rip you off saying parts need replacing although the A/C dryer is a common one that has to be renewed. Quick half hour on the net should find you someone local.

What tool to remove security bolt on wheel?
leginegdoh replied to Aj77's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Wheel nut looks abit corroded so maybe some wd40 and keep the socket square on to the bolt to stop slippage. -
What tool to remove security bolt on wheel?
leginegdoh replied to Aj77's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
There should have been a socket in with your jack and brace which would go on the security wheel bolt.If this is missing you can get universal fits all sockets on line but better off popping into a dealers. Yes the bottom picture is a towing bolt to screw into your bumpers, you should be able to find a removable section for this It saves tying a rope around something breakable. -
face lift headlight seals...
leginegdoh replied to mac11irl's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Mine came detattched so I removed the light unit, cleaned the unit edge and seal and glued the rubber seal onto the edge of the unit. -
I currently drive a 1.4 tsi with 7 speed dsg and it has been the best car I've had.Averageing 45+ mpg on a run and can fit 4 in with a boot full for a holiday no problems. Mine is Elegance trim which has enough toys and is really comfy to drive. No faults in 2 years of ownership. Plenty on auto trader especially if you want a manual, just be prepared to travel to find the right one. Good hunting.

Help! Over-thinking things!
leginegdoh replied to Raker's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I currently drive a 62 plate Octavia estate with a 1.4 tsi and the 7 speed dsg and love it. Good mpg especially on a run and plenty of load space. Had a 1.9 diesel Roomster before and that was also brilliant. -
I had my under tray covered in oil, found out the leak was from the oil filter,it wasn't on tight enough!

What to buy 1.4tsi, 1.8tsi or 2.0 tsi
leginegdoh replied to Teacherspet's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I've also got a 1.4 tsi dsg estate and love it. Plenty of poke good economy and relaxing to drive. -
All sorted. The on/off button was not fully plugged into the socket! God knows how long it's been like that,5 minutes total to do.
-
Found out today that the TCS button does not turn off the traction control. I've tried a quick push, short push and long push, over 10 seconds, but the TCS does not switch off. Any one know of possible causes? How easy is it to get in behind the button? No warning lights car starts and run great. Thanks for looking. Car is a 62 plate 1.4 TSI DSG 48,000 on the clock.

1.4 TSI 122 weird noise...
leginegdoh replied to IvanLSF's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Bearings on the alternator perhaps? -
I had a 56 plate 1.9 diesel "3" up until last year and loved it. Panoramic roof was fantastic with no leaks or problems, engine ran like a sewing machine and only needed yearly servicing. Ran it for 4 years and the only fault was the brake switch which took all of 30 seconds to replace. Great economy as well even 4 up fully loaded plus a roof bag on top! Could even fit a full drum kit in the back with just the middle seat removed. Find a low mileage one and look after it and you'll have miles of enjoyment. Part exed it for a 62 plate 1.4 tsi 7 speed DSG Octavia estate and thats great as well.

1.4 TSI Octavia buying advice
leginegdoh replied to 37bodie's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Apart from blue smoke on start up and obvious knocks and rattles as long as the car looks straight and clean and you like it go for it. I got a similar aged elegance 6 months ago although an estate and with dsg and I love it.High 40s to low 50s on a run and very quiet. -
