  1. Thanks for the replys, I would very much like the idea that it’s a CV joint but when I have the car on my lift there is no play between driveshaft/wheelhub. Granted I didn’t put force onto wheel while holding the driveshaft, and I’m not sure that would work since the springs push the wheelassembly out of ’normal position’. Any tips on checking the CV joints? There is NO sound what so ever unless putting strain on the driveshafts, either by gas (on/off) or when engaging/disengaging clutch in 1st/2nd gear.

    I’m pretty sure it’s not a tierod or a rodend :-(

  2. Hi guys, so I’ve been drivning my -11 170hk 2.0 tid 4x4 Skoda for 70000km or so. Lately (1 year), a noise has reared it’s ugly head on me. The noise is a sharp klick/klonk sound.

while driving it manifests best if run at low gears 1 or 2, and when you go from accel to enginebrake on and off.

Loudest when turning right, lower sound going straight, no sound going hard left.

When the car is raised off the ground there is a notisible play while turning the front wheel, and indeed a klickning/klonking sound. I can turn the tire 5-7 degrees w/o any other wheel moving.

the play/sound seems to originate from the front differential/gearbox.

what do you guys think, anyone have the same sound? Know if it’s a common problem? Expensive? Urgent?

  3. Hi,

This weekend I changed the oil in the Haldex. Ran into two problems:

1: dealer said there should be 0,9L in the Haldex. I measured the volume when I drained it : 0,6L. And that whas what I managed to fill too...

2: lumps of waxy content was in the drained oil. Oil was 'clody'.

I'm thinking I drive a few thousend KM and change again...

Anyone know the volume? And if I should be worried about the 'waxiness'?

    Cheers

  4. Fabia VRS, 110,000 miles.

I noticed something odd the other day, which has this afternoon become chronic. Under acceleration the other day, my car started juddering slightly as if the car was being intermittently starved of fuel. Subsequently, the car was feeling a bit gutless and not seeming to want to pull as it should.

I suspected perhaps a clogged fuel filter and replaced this and the car seemed okish. Just now, I've been out drive the car 4 or

5 mile, left it for 20 minutes or so and then came back to it. Almost immediately, the car started juddering under light acceleration again as if there was some kind of blockage. I took it onto a dual carriageway and applied fairly heavy acceleration where the car started juddering quite badly and the ASR light, (yellow skiddy car on the dash), came on and stayed on and the car continued to judder badly, even when not under acceleration and no pressing of the ASR button on the dash would clear the light. I pulled over, turned the engine off and back on and the ASR light was gone, but the car still continued juddering slightly under acceleration.

Obviously without seeing the car, would anybody have any idea what this might be? A bad sensor feeding wrong information back the ECU and cutting power to the wheeels? A disintegrating CV joint affecting the traction control system? A faulty ECU or DMF going west emoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif perhaps?

I've done a search, but haven't been able to find any descriptions of similar symptoms. A trip my garage in the morning is in order, but it would be useful to have some suggestions in the meantime as to what may be the problem?

    thanks

  5. Hi, the winter is on approach and I was going to enjoy my auxiliary heater :-) Epic fail, or well it kinda works but not like last winter :-(...

I can't light up the auxiliary heater with my remote, the LED indicates that it was a successful start but the only thing starting is the ventilation. The heater itself doesnt fire up :-(.

Now the strange part is that when I start the engine the heater fires up and heats correctly :-(

    Any suggestions?

  6. This works to some extent, however my cat, who I'm pretty sure was dropped several times on her head as a kitten, loves water. She'll get in the bath if left unattended, she gets in the shower. When cleaning the car she plays and gets a good squirt from the hose and to her it's terribly good fun. She's even come back from the neighbours three gardens down absolutely soaked where she's gone and jumped in the pond.

So while this sort of thing will work on 99% of cats, just be aware - there is a cat out there ready to spite you and find your antics fun rather than disruptive!

All you've done this is link what my cat would find her favourite toy, and in return spend more time in your garden and raise your water bill to an unaffordable cost.

Well as you stated your cat is a 'freak', and shouldnt be used as a norm? From what I've read on garden forums the work quite well... Can't imagine it would put you in bankruptcy?

But to be fair, I have not tried it and it so I can't judge it.

  7. Hi, I have a 2011 3T estate with KESSY. I'm having problems with all the comfort functions in the driver Door, even central locking on the driver door (left hand). The left back Door is also acting up (central locking). I've checked fuses - no problems. I belueve this problem showed itself after a machine Wash. IF i yank the cable between driver door / body it starts to work but only for a few lock/unlock cycles. Any suggestions ?

Edit: the error is present wether I use KESSY or remote unlock/lock. Power Windows fail aswell ( left Doors)

  8. Happy new year to you too. Haha yeah, washing it twice a year will be a burden :-I Seriously, you should get time offmfrom work when you've got a family. I keepmcutting corners everywhere just to keep up!

From what I've read I shouldn't worry about the oil pump issues that haunts earlier 2.0 tdi's?
