I don't think people browsing a VRS thread would be the biggest fans of electric cars. I think I'd be OK with it when I HAD to get one but I'm going to enjoy the last years of ICE VRS production from Skoda and I'll miss these days when they're gone.

There is no mention of a non-hybrid petrol version. This would greatly disappoint me. Bit disappointed about the lack of spoiler too. I thought it has become a traditional feature linking the shape of all generations of Octavia vRS.😕 Answering my own question here 😆. A quick look on Skodas FB page says there are more versions to come. Phew.

The 2014 petrol version we had was glorious. Big happy smiles. But I find the diesel has its benefits too. Cheaper to fuel and the power is more usable, despite being less on paper. It also outpaces most things in a much more serene and undramatic way which I quite like. Really intersting (and surprising) regarding the contrast between DSG boxes in different models. Im getting on well with it in both our 2014 and 2018 VRS'S. Big difference in the start/stop though. 14 plate is less sensitive which is great but the 18 plate is better in traffic jams.

I think I'm now a Skoda convert and.... a DSG convert as well. I've had various cars but my Mrs has has had Octavias for about 15 years and so has her dad. She got her first VRS in 2014, a bright red petrol powered, manual gearbox beast. It was so good. Like driving the General Lee. After a brief flirt with Kia (don't ask) we both have a diesel VRS with a DSG box. What a different beast. Beautifully different. It just seems to devour up the road with such little fuss, flying past traffic in a very civilised manner. Great car in a different way. It's a shame but we'll probably end up back on petrol when we get a mkIV in 2022 but DSG all the way for us now.

Lots of good stuff do thanks very much everyone. It looks like we are not far off the 50% but also WBAC are quoting 600 quid above our settlement which perhaps indicates we will be OKish when we pay with the car using one of the options suggested (will certainly bear in mind the cautionary tales).

Im hoping to get a few different quotes so that i know im not getting completely ripped off. Im not sure we are far enough through the PCP for a hand back. Maybe 700 short. I think it's normally 50% of what's due including the balloon payment. It's an option though as long as VW finance don't blacklist us. If I was handing the car back within the terms of the PCP then I could maybe get away with scuffs as reasonable damage but seeing as it would be a simple sale to a dealer (with money straight to the finance company of course) then every little imperfection would effect value and so would any repair.

I do expect value to be knocked off because of this and that but if its less than the cost of the repair then its a win to leave it as it is. I dont know if it is though! 🤔

We are officially going down to a one car family 😔 but that's OK because we have 2 x Octavia VRS mk3 so all is not lost! Now, the PCP still has 18 months to go and I dont want the faff of a private sale so it looks like a sale to a dealer. Does anybody have any experience of whether it's worthwhile to get cosmetic repairs done or not? It has the odd blemish but nothing major (its a 64 plate) and the front alloys are scuffed. I could spend money sorting all that but only if it meant I gained it back on the valuation. It also needs a service in 2 months, right when I'd be looking to part with it and buy a bicycle. My wife still gets to drive an Octavia.... good job I love her! Thanks for your help 🙂

I've been on myskoda and can see that the car had some kind of service in Dec 18 but it does not elaborate on what was done. If it was a year after first registration or the mileage was high then I could make the leap of faith that an oil change was involved but as it was only 7 months then it leaves me a bit confused. The car itself is saying a inspection is due in 80 odd days (would make sense, that would be December again) but it's saying an oil change is due in over 400 days. Bizarre. I think I read somewhere that the oil is changed in the first year or at 12500 miles and then every 2 years!? That would follow. I think what I'll do is have a look at those links that were kindly posted to get some more information and try and nail down what's needed and possibly what and why some kind of inspection/service was done at 7 months old. If I cant nail it down then I'll just get a precautionary oil as was suggested. Unfortunately I cannot ask what happened to the car as there is no paperwork regarding dealerships or previous owners.

Not sure I'm liking the modern soft-copy only world of service history. I am not getting that warm and fuzzy feeling that my car has been looked after properly, hence reaching out for the opinion of fellow owners. My car is a Octavia VRS TDI DSG. It was first registered in May 18 and I bought it in May 19, pretty much bang on one year old with 7400 miles. I've checked online and it says there was a service done in December 2018 (no further details). A bit bizarre as I am used to annual servicing and that seems really early. I was a little bit re-assured when I looked at the history for my wife's VRS which didn't provide any more details than mine did but we do know hers has had proper services during our ownership. My decision was to trust the December 18 date and wait until the 12 months was up and have another service done in December 19. It's niggling at me though as I've no idea if I am doing the right thing at the right time and even if I need a major or minor service. I'm sure the answer is out there amongst the wealth of information people have kindly uploaded to help out their fellow Octavia owners, but I though I'd give it a shot asking the question first. Many thanks. Incidentally, owning 2 cars exactly the same on a 64 plate and an 18 plate has offered some insights. My wifes car has 55k on it but it somehow seems a lot perkier and nippier than mine. The stop/start also seems a lot less fussy than the new car. We're both loving our motoring right now though.

My local used car dealer were trying to source an Octavia VRS for me and had access to ex fleet auctions. However they couldn't find one with evidence that the DGS service had been done. Out of dozens of them!
