Yep, second @Squirrelz comment. My 2014 rear calipers are binding regularly, causing a tiny bit of play on the handbrake, sometimes enough to bring the warning light on. I'm awaiting funds to replace the calipers, until then, a squirt of lubrication on the handbrake pivot point is enough to free it off for a few months (being careful not to over spray)
If you want red callipers I had to buy ones labelled as Audi S1 quattro - otherwise I just ended up with grey ones.
ie https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304303620320
Oh and get a pair, cheaper than buying one, then a few months later buying another 🙄

I would keep an eye on your rear brake callipers. I had a handbrake lever that was in a similar state, and it eventually turned out to be a binding calliper. Had it replaced and after a few months it started again, and that was caused by the other side.

Thanks for the advice, I've ordered this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175764623758 - was the only one I could find on ebay that was clearly from a VRS of the right age

Hi, just after some advice. One of my neighbours kids has ridden his bike into the back of my car and broken the passenger side tail light. She's good for covering the cost of sorting it, but I don't want to stiff her for the cost of a main dealer fix given the car is 10 years old.
I *think* (and happy to be corrected) that the part number is 5E9945111A, and searching the net, there seem to be a bunch of manufacturers for this part.
Would these parts all be the same quality - they vary from £150 (for brands I've not heard of) to £300 for HellaI'll probably get a local independent garage to fit. Would I be just better off taking the car there and letting them do the whole thing, or should I source a part that I can ensure the quality of?

I've got a sticking rear caliper which is stopping the handbrake lever from sitting back down fully. My local garage are struggling to locate a replacement caliper in red - they can get an unpainted one though.
Are there any suppliers that have them in red, or should I be looking at getting one from a breaker, or getting them to procure a grey one and paint it? What do you folks recommend.
I just can't deal with having an unmatched one, it would upset me far too much!

Just driven the car today (Octavia III VRS TDI) and found the parking brake warning kept bonging even though it was released. It seems like the lever is not fully down, if I push down on it, it will go down about an inch and then spring back up.
Anyone had this before, or got any suggestions before I take it to a garage to look at?

It started happening when Ford owned Aston. They'd have never gotten away with it otherwise

That front bumper looks very different from the one above

The new one works with iOS, plus I think will be able to talk to non-VAG cars at some point

I bought the next gen one in the Black Friday sale - which was basically the ultimate for the price of the pro version plus an extra 500 credits
Took me a while to figure out that you have to register twice - I'd registered on the website to order it, but the app wasn't accepting my login. You have to register again on the device with the same email address, then it links up and assigns your licence and credits automatically.
I've used the 'apps' to turn on High Beam assist, which was pretty easy, but I might have a look at coding for other stuff when I get around to it.

In regards the octy Mk4. I'll stick with my view that VAG and their brand hierarchy have dropped the ball by not allowing the allready in use e-golf tech to be used in the new octy. Probably scared of losing crossbrand sales on their new VW ID3 model.
I think the reason that VW have ditched the e-Golf is that a platform that needs to be capable of having a choice of ICE or BEV power is going to be a massive compromise compared with power specific platforms, but the costs of developing a platform specific to BEV are going to be very high. So by ditching the e-Golf they force anyone wanting a BEV to buy the ID3 and ensure more people go for that option.
Skoda I'm sure will be delivering models based on the ID3 platform in a year or two, once the initial demand for the VW variant has been met

The new hardware is available now, and there's some Black Friday offers on it today.
IOS functionality is *very* limited at the moment by the looks of things, but I'm sure they'll develop it up to the same functionality as the Android app over timeOh and if you buy the new hardware, it works with both Android and IOS

HVAC moving to the touchscreen, I still think is a massive mistake 😞

Just that one indeed, but that is for manual. Did not see it for DSG.
I've had a bit of a search on EKTA and I think you're right, you can only get the "badge repair" kits for the manual gearbox - presumably because there are quite a few variations on them. The DSG one only seems to be available as a full replacement for the gearknob and gaiter

It must be possible, because those parts are purchasable:
Octavia III - original Skoda shift knob plate - VRSOctavia-III-original-Skoda-shift-knob-plate-CLICK-version-6M
Oh.. unless you mean the whole top part without the gaiter, not seen that anywhere

Front is ok - back im not keen on though. The rear quarter light is tiny and rake of rear window looks shallower so wonder if the boot is smaller.
Part of the rear quarter light is covered over with red film. you can see the bottom crease of the window line continuing through it, and the rear pillar would appear to be similar in size and angle to the current superb estate.
You can't tell much else about the rear as the photo is too poor quality to distinguish what is disguise and what is real. -

....So in essence I have 12 matching locking wheel nuts fitted that I don't have the locking nut for and 4 that I do...
Huh, I'm confused by this. Normally there is only one locking nut/bolt per wheel, the other 4 (or 3 on a 4 bolt hub) are just plain nuts or bolts

I had three sets in 2 and half years on my 2016 VRS. If the dealer has the cheek to say its your fault be sure to invite him/her out for a walk amongst their used stock and point it out on every single skoda sat there thats over 6 months old.
Mine's over 5 years old and they're only just starting to go at the edges, I just fancy trying to do something a little different and a set that have already corroded would be a great starting point.

I don't suppose you still have your old ones? Looking for some to have a go at modifying to match my black alloys (want to remove the chrome and polish up)

It's almost certainly going to be the same as for an octavia estate:

I thought the VRS had been discontinued now pending arrival of the facelift Octavia next year?

...Skoda are planning a new vRS 280 TSI 4x4 which will come with both DSG and manual transmission.
Blimey, they normally come with one or the other, not both! :p
....I'll get me coat...

My 2007 Civic used to eat rear pads and disks, the dealer put it down to the fact I was driving on fast, windy, bumpy country roads which was causing the stability control to be constantly tapping the rear brakes. Apparently if you spent all day on the motorway they lasted many times longer.

'89 Esprit SE had it IIRC.
